Ok.

I got a steering wheel from a 02 Jaguar S-type in very nice condition for a good price and decided to put it on my LS. I know the color of the wood differs so is the color of the leather (a little), but I really like it. The LS airbag does fit but it is a little bit smaller than the one that Jags have. So my question is if I get a Jag airbag will it work on the LS?? I don't know yet, but if the harnesses are the same will I have any problems by installing an airbag from a different type of vehicle (although their share many things)? If I put Jag's airbag, also the color will match.

Here are some pictures:

I know the colors differ, but this steering wheels quality is soo good that I can't resist. The leather, the plastic behind the airbag are a lot better than the one in 00-02 LSs. The 03 and up steering wheels did get a little better.

Thanks.

cant u take it somewhere to have the steering wheell wood match with the leather? i think ken gave me the number to a place that does it

I'll bet that is one nice wheel to feel when you drive! You can always figure out a way to dye the leather to match, etc....but I wouldn't worry about it if you like it as is. Nice job....

I am gonna get one airbag from jag, I mean if the numbers match then I shouldn't be worrien about the airbag. About the leather color, if the airbag color will be the same too, the noticable difference will be minimum as that color kind of falls between my dash's color and the seats colors.

Yea, but it is not only the color, the airbag is a little smaller so there are some gaps between it and the steering wheel.

you can always use interior dye to match the airbag to the wheel.

cant u take it to a specialist and put the lincoln symbol OVER the jag symbol... then dye the leather and switch the wood..like i said.. ibelieve ken named a place earlier in a post i had about woodgrain

When I get the airbag then I might think something about the emblem.. Yea, about that place, I emailed them once and they said that for only top part being wood and the rest leather (like the stock LS wood wheel) they want about $400 + shipping costs, If it's doulbe wood, it's gonna be at leats $100, $150 more. I'll see what I do.

ya.. i learned the hard way that u pay what u get for..

the lincoln emblem may be easy to change.. look into the emblems on the navigator.. they come circular.. with the lincoln emblem in the middle.. it may be easier to use it to cover that up.. i dont see why the jag airbag wouldnt work though...

Yea, and the numbers are matchin also.

it looks like the plug in the back is the same as the one in the LS so you might be fine....

Could be a bit dangerous to put a Jag airbag into the Lincoln. Aren't the size, deployment rate, and deflation rate of an airbag engineered for a specific vehicle? If the weight of the car is substantially different and the dynamics of the crush zone are different, it could cause the airbag to deploy or deflate too soon or too late. You could end up getting killed by the very device that is supposed to save your life.
