Does anyone here know how to program a keyless entry remote for a 2000 lincoln ls? ALSO BOUGHT AN EXTRA KEY BUT NOW WHAT? do i just take it to a key place so they can cut it to fit my car? if so can u please tell me, i just bought an extra one but i dont know how to program it :(

For security reasons you have to take the ALL transmitters to the dealer so that they can program them. You can not program the transmitters. This is stated in the owners manual.

The key you can program yourself if the key alreay has the chip in it.
you have to have 2 keys to program a 3rd key.
1. put the first key in the ign then turn to ign ( DON'T TURN TO START JUST ONE CLICK BEFORE THAT). wait for the red led to turn off on the dash then take the key out.
2. do the same for the 2nd key.
3.the 3rd key do the same as step 1 but once the red led turns off turn the key off and then try to start the car w/ that key.

As for the remote I am not sure. Just have these directions from doing remote starts in car that require these steps.

I don't know if it is like the old fords but the way the old fords wente as far as transmitter programing was turn the key to the ign spot then turn off (you have to do this 10 times) no the car is in program mode but on the 10thg time leave the key in ign spot. just press the lock button on remote and it should be done. just take the key out and try it??
Don't know if it will work.

page 97 owners manual:
Replacing lost transmitters

If a remote transmitter has been lost and you would like to remove it from the vehicle’s memory or you would like to purchase additional transmitters for your vehicle (up to four may be programmed into memory), take all your vehicle’s transmitters to your dealer for programming. It will be necessary for your dealer to reprogram all the remote transmitters to your vehicle while performing this service.

in the programming instruction that cam with the remote keypad:
Lincoln LS 2000-2002 - Dealer diagnostic method of programming trammitters and keypad only.

I believe you are talking about adding additional keys to your cars PAT system (which we are not talking about here) - which is done:
Programming spare keys

A maximum of eight keys can be coded to your vehicle. Only SecuriLocky keys can be used. To program a coded key yourself, you will need two previously programmed coded keys (keys that already operate your vehicle’s engine) and the new unprogrammed key(s) readily accessible for timely implementation of each step in the procedure.

If two previously programmed coded keys are not available (one or both of your original keys were lost or stolen), you must bring your vehicle to your dealership to have the spare coded key(s) programmed.

Please read and understand the entire procedure before you begin.

1. Insert the first previously programmed coded key into the ignition and turn the ignition from 1 (LOCK) to 4 (RUN) (maintain ignition in 4 (RUN) for at least one second).

2. Turn ignition to 1 (LOCK) and remove the first coded key from the ignition.

3. Within ten seconds of turning the ignition to 1 (LOCK), insert the second previously programmed coded key into the ignition and turn the ignition from 1 (LOCK) to 4 (RUN) (maintain ignition in 4 (RUN) for at least one second but no more than ten seconds).

4. Turn the ignition to 1 (LOCK) and remove the second coded key from the ignition.

5. Within 20 seconds of turning the ignition to 1 (LOCK), insert the new unprogrammed key (new key/valet key) into the ignition and turn the ignition from 1 (LOCK) to 4 (RUN) (maintain ignition in 4 (RUN) for at least one second). This step will program your new key to a coded key.

6. To program additional new unprogrammed key(s), repeat this procedure from step 1.

If successful, the new coded key(s) will start the vehicle’s engine and the theft indicator will illuminate for three seconds and then go out.

If not successful, the new coded key(s) will not start the vehicle’s engine and the theft indicator will flash on and off. If failure repeats, bring your vehicle to your dealership to have the new spare key(s) programmed.

Quik is right on the FOB's. The '00 to '02's have to go to the dealership. I believe they gave the owner back the capability to program FOB's in '03.

****THREAD RESURRECTION****

WTF is with this? Why would Ford be so gay as to do something like this? Oh wait, they're Ford... nevermind... Man these freaking idiots piss me off. "You have to blow your money on our dealer network to fix something you should be able to fix..." Friggin' cacks...

I have a friend who owns a shop, maybe he has a tester that can hook into it, I dunno.
