Just Bought 4.6 GMS Coil Packs

So I've been needing to do replace a few of my coils after ive been noticing them breaking down. so i decided to purchase some coil packs for a 4.6 mod motor through GMS, knowing that the wiring harness would connect (tested it on my friends 04 GT)i knew it was possible. So after i recived them i unplged mine to notice the stainless wires arn't long enough, but luckly they are adjustable just enough to snap on the spark plug. but my next problem was the bolt holes dont line up so i threw some good size washers onto the bolt and bolted them down, and i repated the process for the other 7. After i was complete i cranked it over and sure enough it fired right up. The car idles so much smoother and i can notice a huge difference in the mid range power, and my gas millege went from right around 15 to just over 17. I figured there might be a few more people that where curious if the 60,000 volt coils from GMS would work, so i figured i would be a test dummy on this one, and so far so good.
 
the coils i used are from moto blue there exactly the same as GMS coils just without the cost http://www.rpmoutlet.com/musv8wgf.htm I ordered the ones for a 4.6 2V. This isn't a plug and play thing either but if u take ur time u can figure it out. And the covers will not fit since the plug wire is on the oposite side making them way to tall.
 
For the boot i used the factory black rubber one, and for the wires i used the stainless braided wires supplied with the kit. The wires are adjustable to where they lock onto the plugs themselves and then all u need to is find a way to hold them down, and thats it.
 
the coil covers wont fit? Isn't that a deal breaker or does that not matter??
 
The way GMS deals with the coil size issue - they made a COP cover spacer that allow the COP cover to be reinstalled with enough height.

THis idea may not work on our LS since a couple of the bolts have next to zero clearance.

Got to find a way to get the COP covers back on - IMHO - there are several TSB where the issue was mis-firing cause by water getting into the plug wells, the fix was to replace the COP cover gasket, re-torque the cover down or replace weather stripping on the inside hood line.
 
that's what I was thinking. however with it being totally "open" wouldn't the water steam off? I'm thinking with them sealed but leaking the water gets trapped?
 
How bout cut out a rectangluar hole in the middle of the original cover long enough to clear the COPs on each end. Then cut a section of 2 inch pvc pipe straight down the middle. Or maybe 1/4" off center so you get anywhere from a 3/4" to 1" tall "half pipe". Glue it to the top of the cover, then cut some pvc ends to fit on the open ends of the pipe. Paint it all a color of your choosing when you get done. I think if done correctly that should clear all the obstacles under the hood of the LS.
 
Hey guys I have a 2000 V8 LS sport and I have replaced coil #4 earlier this year. Well, lucky me now #7 is misfiring and while doing some searching I came across this thread and I am so interested in doing this myself. Like "nick" I am wondering has anyone else tried this? I also found these on the same site for $22.95 and was thinking about ordering one to play with.

I don't know if they there would be the same issuse as for the MOTOBLUE or not, but I imagine they are pretty much the same size and all. I also love the fact that you can just order the coil on plug connector kit.

Lound00ls if you or anyone else who has done this have any pics or updates that would be great.
