Hello everyone, I just bought a 1990 Lincoln Towncar Signature 4d sedan, and wanted to know if anyone knows of any common problems in them? Average milage?, The engine and transmission are excellent, 113,000 miles on it, interior is good, no rips in the leather, no cracks in the dash, now to the problems, Windows don't work they make a noise a friend told me it could be the bushings, 2 radio doesn't work but the antenna doesn't work so I'm pretty sure that I can just replace the antenna and fix that, but also the switchs on the radio don't always work, my odometer and all the lights on the dash just went out anyone know what that could be?, It has a crack in the muffler but i'm replacing that 2 days from now, other than that everything is really clean and operational.

Hey!

my first car was a 90 signature tc. when i bought it it had 112k on it, when i traded it in it had 143k and i owned it for about a year and a half.
it blew a head gasket at 143k, but we fixed it and traded it in on a newer one.

at this age, you might need to start considering replacing the air suspension(first thing we had to do in mine).

as for the dash not working, there are a few fuse boxes under the dash, you might have a blown fuse.

post some pics!

When I drive home tonight I will be turning over 209,000 miles in my 90' TC with the original engine, transmission, and air suspension. These cars are champions, last year of the 5.0 in a Towncar. Sorry I don't have any ideas on your dash lights.

mines a 91 with a 5.0...? but yeah mine is at 120K i just bought the original brochure for my car over ebay

Did the previous owner swap motors or what? Cause 91 and up had the 4.6l.

Hey KainDTE...

The best way is show your VIN and see if your VIN saying "F", then that mean 302 V8 5.0L

Hope that help..

I ran the vin number and it says it is a 90 TC but my registration says its a 91??? i dunno whatever lol... but if your windows dont work, and your hearing a grinding noise than its probably the gears... i had the same exact problem with 2 windows... ended up costing around 4 or 5 hundred to fix. it ended up being 850 cause i had to have the steering column fixed too cause i guess someone tried to steal my car before i got it and they made it jump past start... bastards ;)
