I got the cleanest 2002 lincoln continental probably in existence on Craigslist today. Fully loaded, all of the options are on this baby, even the customizable air ride suspension system.

It was owned by an elderly couple who were attorneys, they kept it in the garage. Very important because I live in Alaska.

4.6l v8 only 69k miles on it, no dings or scrapes. Only paid $6,500 for this beauty and it's my first car. I'm so ****ing excited. This bitch is classy as ****.

What would you guys recommend me doing as far as preventative maintenance, so far I think I'm going to have the dealer do a full tranny flush & replace filter and also a full coolant flush as my car got hot on the highway, and I pulled over to let it cool down, and looked at the coolant reservoir and saw some gunky looking sediment.

Also I'd like to put in an aftermarket stereo that I can stream my phones screen onto for gps, is installing a new stereo pretty straight forward? I helped my buddy do his on an 06 cavalier and we had to tear the dash apart, it was a nightmare.

I hope your overheat / funky coolant isn't a blown head gasket!

It's stupidly easy to do a radio in these cars. Forget about using the "subs" in the back deck (a waste of time anyway) and you'll just need a regular harness for speakers & power. There are 2-3 screws that hold the trim panel in place. Don't miss the one hidden below the ignition switch - gotta pop off the panel under the steering wheel to reach that screw. Then you just pull the dash trim off and the radio bracket is staring you in the face.

The link in my sig is clickable!

hope that overheating is not a major repair.

adding a 2 din car stereo is easy, also the steering adapter works good on this car. the new head unit added more bass on the existing JBL unit.. I have to tone it down..

the weird things is, is that it did it one time. I've put a few hundred miles on it, and it only did it one day when I was driving for about 3 hours. By the time I had pulled off the highway, the temperature had returned to normal. I'm leaning more towards a bad thermostat, because the one time it did happen was at highway speeds, besides that it's really been problem free.

Also, I quite enjoy the little added thump the subs in the back give, would I have to give those up with a custom unit?

Congrats on the purchase, very nice car.

Does the coolant look like it has ever been changed? I would change the T-stat, have them pressure test the system. Maybe the coolant was changed and someone didn't get the air bubbles out by having it idle. Also the coolant crossover plug is a pita to take off. Try using some penetrating oil around it so that it is easy to take off. I will be changing the coolant in my '99 this summer and have a write up so far about the car.

Hope this helps.

when I put in an aftermarket head unit (JVC 2DIN) I retained the subs at the back, it has more thump now since the aftermarket unit has more bass and loudness control built in (not the bass and treble only controls on the standard unit)

that's a good purchase anyway, enjoy the ride!

When they quit with the JBL system and went Alpine instead, the quality of the stock speakers went to hell. I guess that was 1999?

Lincoln's JBL systems from the 80s+ were great setups. Too bad they cheaped out at the end. Then again, they should be ashamed of themselves for putting tape decks in cars even in 2000. My grandfather's 87 Town Car had the in-dash CD player, something unheard of in car audio!

Personally I'm glad that there is a tape deck in my 99. There was no bluetooth then and it gives me a way to plug in my phone so I can play my music. Even though I have a 6 disk changer in the trunk I almost never use it.
