Just got car, couple more ?'s.

I just got my 01 LS v6 black on black. with 60k miles. I payed 7k out the door for it from my grandma, after she spent 1800 at the dealer plus all the other money they ripped from here the past 3 years. Pretty good deal I think. Here are the things I am looking to do now, gotta couple questions about them.

--Lights: I want HID kit I think, but how good do they work on our cars? Is the line crisp, do they look like it does when our brights are on now? I was reading on website some kits dont work because of gray something or another. Which one do I get?? Please explain all this light stuff to me.

--Radio: The door speakers sound like :q:q:q:q, I wanna get new ones. What size are they? Anything specific I need to know about that? I dont wanna get rid of the stock headunit because I dont wanna get rid of the steering wheel controls......... Also I need bass. I was thinking about putting in subs in the rear deck since holes are cut already like they come in the v8, good or bad idea. I dont wanna get rid of trunk space, need it all!!

--Sunroof: What would it cost to put in a sunroof? Is it worth it, I used to love having them...just do idk why......

--Exhaust: I see it has dual exhaust but its hidden under the bumper. I like the look of some of your cars where it comes out of the bumper were its been cut out to do that, guess that was stock on v8 i want that look, its clean! I dont really want noise, maybe a little if it was the right kind, what would it take to do that.

--Wheels and tires: I am thinking either 17 or 18. I like the black and chrome wheel mixture combind look I think, anybody have wheels like that they could send me pics of with what size they are, whats a good set of wheels and tires cost, and does that hurt the car in any way?

Door speakers are 6x8, but some vendors call them 5x7. You can also get adapter plates to mount 5-1/4 or 6-1/2s, or component 5-1/4 woofer plus separate tweeter. Factory "audiophile" systems had a separate sub amp and 6x9s in the rear deck. Will get you a little better bass than door speakers alone, but if you really want thump you're going to have to give up some trunk space for a box. PAC makes adapters that will allow you to use the steering wheel controls with aftermarket stereos.

Aftermarket sunroof installations are $1000-$1500 and never approach the quality of factory. I would avoid them.

Sounds good, I think maybe I can just go with one 12 and not kill to much room............ but the look on the rear deck I think would be cool! So do I order 6 * 8 or 5 * 7??????? Can you send me the link for whatever it is so I can use stw controls after afermarket? Plus what would be a good headunit for this car without killing the look......... thanks-davis!

There are a number of different PAC steering wheel control interfaces, you will need to get one that matches the stereo. Search the forum for PAC, there are plenty of threads about it. The only aftermarket stereos that look remotely like a factory unit are the double din nav units, search the forum for Avic and you'll find some installs and how to modify the 03+ NAV faceplate.

If you go to crutchfield.com and enter your car info they will tell you what speakers fit.
