so i dropped it off yesterday cause of it not going in reverse right away and hard shifting. so i get a call today and tell me to come pick it up. so im going there thinking my waranty covered it. NOPE, i had to pay 150 for a pcm reprogram. i didnt even tell em to do any work they just went ahead. i told em to call b4 doing anything. but anyways it drives better, iguess it was worth it.

i would've bitched and got it for free.. be like unprogram it.. i didnt tell you to do this.. lalaldlaa

How can they charge you for a PCM flash on a car that's under warranty??? Something stinks here.

On a related note, my son took his LS into a brake specialist here in Phoenix to have his brakes checked and replaced. They recommended doing the fronts only as the rears were in great shape still. I told him to have them all done, but he went with the fronts only. They quoted him a price and he said fine. Then they called him back and told him they checked the rotors more carefully and they needed to be replaced because they would be under specs if turned. He called me and I told him he was in it this far he might as well finish it. He requested ceramic pads and they ordered new rotors and hardware. They gave him another price. He said fine. So he goes to pick up the car and it's $75 bucks higher than quoted! He's pissed big time! He asks where the additional charge comes from and they say tax. He says...$75 in tax?? They said, well, the tax is $13 and they don't know where the rest is from. He's really getting smoked now. (Takes after his Dad some...) Since the last price he was quoted was supposed to be the out the door price, he thinks he's getting ripped off. Which he is. Finally he tells them that this is a bunch of BS and he's not going to stand for it. They said he'll pay it or he won't get his car. He says since they aren't charging what they promised, they can put the car back on the rack and return everything to the way it was...and if they don't like that, he'll have the Sheriff there in about 5 minutes and we'll see what he says. They dropped the price to his quote. He calls me on the phone and tells me about it...and I asked him if he got the old parts. He says no...and I tell him to go get them. When I get the rotors, I measure them and after turning them with the Ford recommended cut depth (.008 if I remember) they will clean up with a good .010 to spare. He got hosed royally. This time I called the shop and reamed them good. I told them they hadn't heard the last of this. I probably won't do anything, but at least they're worried about it. I guess they thought they could take advantage of a 27 year old kid with a Lincoln. They thought wrong.

Glad to hear you struck the fear of God in them!! Auto repair shops really suck unless you have a reliable one you can go to and trust.I can do alot of work myself but when it comes to my LS Im not touching anything more than the battery :eek2:. I almost always ask for my old parts also. Cali is prone to charge you a disposal fee for certain things and plus I like to inspect them myself anyway. Good job by you and your son.
