So the old turn signal switch in my 2006 is bad and I ordered a new one. I ordered a Motorcraft SW6013 which is the turn signal switch without automatic wipers.

Now on the old one the wiper control was just one big plastic knob at the end. Push it in for a wipe or hold for wipe and clean. Rotate up for intermittent or all the way up for slow and fast constant wipers.

The new one is completely different layout. Push button at end of arm for wipe and clean. One rotary dial that lets you either gets 1 wipe, intermittent, or the two constant speeds. Then a second rotary dial to set the intermittent interval.

I'm assuming it's just an updated configuration since the old style probably had a high failure rate. I do know that the intermittent wipers never worked right on mine unless you went 2-3 clicks up and that's not something limited to just the LS.

My old one looks like the one that's listed for "automatic wipers" which I assumed meant the rain-sensing wipers since the other switch is listed for "without moisture sensitive wipers".

Old arm looks like this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71FZX5NukGL._SX355_.jpg (no clue if the part in the column looks like that though).

I'll look at the column tonight and see if there's room to remove the covers without pulling the wheel. I'd hate to pull the wheel and all that just to find out it's the wrong damn part.

I show 2W4Z-13K359-CA as being for the 2002 Thunderbird and 4W4Z-13K359-BA as the correct part for the 04-06 LS. The Thunderbird part will probably work.
I've never had any problems with the wiper control on either of my LSes. (The turn signal part of it is getting a little flaky on my 04.)

Well, based on that, looks like I have the wrong one.

I have the SW-6013 which crosses to OEM 2W4313K359CA and 2W4Z13K359CA.

SW-6204 crosses to OEM 3W4Z13K359BA and 4W4Z13K359BA. It's also a replacement for SW6011 which I assume was the original turn signal switch before updates/improvements/etc.

The other ridiculous thing is that when I look on fordparts.com and put in my VIN I get both Motorcraft part numbers when searching for "turn signal switch". Maybe they are interchangeable. I guess I am just going to have to pop the cover enough to look down in there and see what the old one looks like.

My wipers always work, but if you leave them on the lowest intermittent setting, they aren't very consistent in how long that delay is. Sometimes it's 7 seconds, sometimes 10, sometimes 30, sometimes 5. Like the contact is bad in the switch.

The turn signal starting to fail is why I'm changing it. It's to the point where there's a 50/50 change that it will do anything. Of those times it does anything, there's a 50/50 chance all you are going to get is left blinker. So maybe 3-4 times out of 10 times you use it, it will signal right when you want it to. The rest of the time it either signals left or does nothing. Nothing like flipping it up to go right, then wondering why people are yelling at you cause the left blinker was on.

The interval is steady for me for each setting. I paid attention to it because I read that the interval was supposed to vary with the speed that you were driving (my 325I does this), but that was not the case.

Sooner or later, I will have to replace the one on the 04 due to the turn signal issue too. I think this is more or less common across Ford cars. Apparently, the multi-function switch is a wear item.

I had a period of time a week ago when my high beams would not go on when I pulled the lever. They seem to work ok now, whats that all about ?

It could be the multifunction switch (probably), the wiring, the cluster, the FEM, or the headlight sockets.

My 02's switch with rain sensing looks like the O'Reilly's pictures. A button/cap for wiper mode and a separate rotating switch for intermittence speed. As far as I know, the speeds are consistent on my LS.

My 97 Taurus, on the other hand, is showing the same problem you have. Sometimes it's 7 seconds, sometimes 20, sometimes it won't engage the notch. A few years ago, it would only run the wipers if the highbeams were on. The only thing holding the signal wire in place at the stalk's base was the divider between pins. The wire broke from use and made intermittent contact. Pushing the stalk forward pushed the wire a little further in. I just soldered the wire back onto the crimp. In hindsight, I should have added a little bit of wire and I should have learned how to solder properly first, but it's lasted 5+ years so far

Then there was the time a few weeks ago the blinker just stayed on solid after I turned the lever to Off. I don't think it was a stalk problem
