cammerfe=Cammer FE
My first new car was a '64 Ford Custom with the 'R' package. That means it had a 427 FE engine. Not very much later I started collecting the pieces that would turn a 427 engine into a 'Cammer' or overhead cam version of the engine. The Cammer 427 was available as a 'crate' engine or as a kit containing the alternate pieces. The cammer engine, in factory form, back in the mid sixties, made a reliable 675-or-so horsepower.
It's now possible to acquire all the pieces necessary to build a brand new version of the engine, except that it can now be built in 600 CID form utilizing parts from Dove Performance in Ohio, and, normally aspirated, it will make about a thousand horsepower. With a pair of properly-sized turbos, such an engine will be going in my next land speed car. How about 30 plus pounds of boost and 3000 HP? And then there's the spray/methanol.
