Just purchased a lincoln ls 02 v6 have some questions. thanks!!!

Hi all,

So i purchased myself my dream car / first car a 2002 lincoln ls v6. mint inside and out ... i will post pictures later i think it has newer ls rims on it not sure but will see later

only one owner, and i purchased it from a used car lot dealer off the street.

only 93k miles ..

so far all i have done was new breaks , rotors & bank2 sensor 1 o2 sensor.

anyways now i have engine light on for egr valve clogged (code p0405) this happen after i used zmax oil and fuel cleaner... what can i do to fix this? how much would it cost if i bring it to a mechanic ..

and every now and then only happen about four times the abs and traction light or is it the advance track light comes on once i turn car off for a while then back on it goes off but i know it will keep happening..

i also notice the cars horn works but sometimes and only when the wheel is straight. the knob to adjust the steering wheel still works. other than all this the airbag light doesnt work so i hear the 5 beeps the car makes which i looked online and pretty much found out why its doing that.

p.s i also forgot to mention the car leaked anti-freeze the first like 4 days i had it on and off. what could of caused it? could it of had been it was over filled? or a lose screw?? like a freeze out screw? it stopped leaking


wen the car is on is the anti freeze suppose to go down and when its off it goes back to normal level?

be sure to only tighten to the specified torque specs as to not break the new brakes...

I would have the car scanned (with a tool capable scan tool), this will point you in the right directions to narrow down the list of many things that light could come on for

like tons of LSs, your clock spring is failing. replace

like tons of LSs, you have a leak in your coolant system. you will need to replace all of the plastic cooling parts, you can search to see why...

Welcome to your nightmare. It may be your dream car but the car has a lot of issues. Luckily for you, this site can address all of these issues other than parts availability, which is rapidly becoming a problem for this car. You are lucky that you have the V6, as Ford uses the same V6 in other models so engine parts are at least more readily available for yours than it is for those of us with the V8.

The only other thing to address that 1LoudLS didn't address is the EGR valve. The use of fuel/oil cleaners is irrelevant to the EGR issue. You likely need to clean/replace the EGR valve. You may also need to clean the EGR passage in the intake. The only way to know is to pull it and check, and I don't know where it is on the LS V6. If you decide it needs to be replaced, spring for the extra and do the Motorcraft car-specific replacement. The generic replacement EGRs use a washer to correctly size the EGR so one valve will work across many different engines, which means the EGR will not quite work correctly on any of them. I've also had a vehicle before that had a hard carbon buildup that plugged the EGR passage in the intake before, required some chisel work to get the passage cleaned out followed by some vacuuming to get the pieces out. If this is your problem, you will see it when you look in the EGR passage, it will look like it's full of oily JB Weldit that shatters with a tap.

about the abs / advance trac. is it safe to still drive the car even when the lights arent on or when they do come on. theres no performance issue or anythign when this happens..

i will replace clockspring and also the coolant leak stopped but i plan to redo all the plastic parts. i need to buy myself a nice tool kit

thanks. after i get lights off and everything situated hopefully nothing else pops up i would like to install a exhaust system perhaps a magnaflow should i any tips?

also i want to install a cold air intake should i just get a k&n filter and leave everythign stock. could anyone share links\\i have the v6
