ICE COLD CANADA
Haven't been on in a while. How is everyone?

I still have both my 2002 and my 2005 LS.
We had a nasty cold spell two weeks ago, temps hit -22 Celsius where I live. So cold, that the belt tensioner ceased. Belt snapped, so had to replace Belt, Tensioner, Alternator (bearing wasn't very good) and pully. Now she's humming away at 180,000 kms. Owned it for 2 years, this is my first repair. Good car so far, very happy with 2nd Gen LS.

Joegr, my 02' is still kicking away despite the failures. I have to say, at 280,000 kms, she's very sound mechanically. One thing Ford got right on these 1st Gens ;)

All kinds of gossip on the net about the new Ford GT. Eco tech engine? Really Ford? Twin turbo V6.. where have I seen that? Cough*Nissan GTR. :shifty:

G-RELL still having trouble beating Honda Civic's?

Hope all you northerners are keeping warm.

i'm sure the twin snail 6 banger on the new gt will be VERY nice, but nothing comes close
to the 5.4 that i've seen YET :)

the mihovizt build motor has held together with 2500+hp, but i digress....

Let us bow our heads in a moment of silence and pray that the V6 is the "entry level" GT and they offer a hopped up Voodoo flat-plane-crank V8 out of the GT350.

I'd also like to see Dodge offer the Viper with a Hellcat V8 just to give the model some variety and higher sales numbers

agreed, its not that its a bad motor... but at this point in the game its going to having a hard enough time keeping up with some of these super high pro versions of car, let alone entry level supercars... I was reading an article this week about the GT, they were calling it the next big hypercar to compete with LaFerrari's, P1's, and 918's of the world. I'm pretty sure I actually laughed out loud at that point. I'm sure it will be a fast car, and will probably be able to keep up with the new 488 GTB, but come on, its not going to be able to keep up with million dollar plus top tier cars... that would be like any LS owner here racing a Z06 with a couple of bottles for some cash...

then again, they also choose the 2.3 for the new SVO... I'm sorry, mustang to wave the ecoboost flag... lets make the car bigger, and barely give it enough motor... its not a bad motor, in fact I'm am glad to see they finally are bringing the RS over to this side of the pond! and finally the new Focus won't be a torque steering mad man any more! that 2.3 with a manual and AWD will finally give Ford something that can finally give the import crowd a run for their money. there already was a company that was showing a bolt on kit for the 2.3 in a pony that put out over 500hp and they called it the freakoboost. now that would make quite the STI and Evo killer once they crank out the focus version!

I fell like the Focus RS and the Shelby GT350R were home runs knocked out of the park, I feel that the GT originally looked like it could have been, but were caught just inside of the fence...

wouldn't fit by a long shot... the vipers hood is about half as high as a charger/challenger. and that my friend would destroy the balance that the viper has now, not to mention make it even harder to see than it already is (if thats even possible.)

Alright, I guess you're right...

Next idea: Slant 6 twin turbo Viper

Wow... theres actually a lot of good points being made here.
I have to say, I agree with everything you said 1LoudLS. The Focus should be the answer and killer to the Subaru offroad market. Ford had that at one time with the escort. They should bring back that rally glory with the potential from an AWD 2.3

As for the Hellcat, it will have it's time in the sun like the rest of dodges improvements. The main issue tho, with hellcat setup, is its lugging a 4,000 pound Charger/Challenger body that really shows when those things try to take off. I personally love the look and feel of the SRT8 charger. But it won't ever be a super car, and it shouldn't ever be. Mustangs, Camaro's and Challengers are the affordable 2 doors. Lets hope they stay that way.

the focus rs may end up in my garage, one day. now that is a
well put together car.

agree on the competition points you made around hanging with
the la's and all that jazz.. time will tell, i suppose. in the mean
time, we dont anticipate swapping out our 5.4 motor for any v6.

:)

yeah, exactly, for everything you can do to a boosted V6 to make it fast, you can do twice as much with a similar larger V8!

also this new 3.5EB must really be something special... not quite sure how I feel about it replacing the 6.2 in the Raptor yet, buy my first instinct is, I don't like it... If I want an Eco-Boost in my raptor, I'll just call Hellion up and get their twin kit. their "safe" tune runs about 550 at the wheels!
