I had a theory about this. You always hear about about a person dies in an accident because they werent buckled in. I just think thats a alternate form of natural selection. When animals do dumb things they get eaten. When humans do dumb things like not wear a seatbelt they die. Its just a form of weeding out the dumb ones in society.

ha ha i've made that same sort of statement here. the only flaw with your theory is that the idiot can turn into a rather large projectile and possibly injure an innocent, less ignorant person. THAT would be a tragedy:)

No BS I just watched a lady and her sons broadside somebody at 55MPH today on my way to arby's. not her fault...absolutely NO way she could have avoided hitting the other car (I was fortunate enough to be turning already...they were RIGHT next to me). needless to say both airbags fired and if they hadn't been buckled up they'd probably be scraping both her and at least one of her 2 kids up still.

.
Ah true, but its a fact that a majority of traffic fatalities are single car crashes. That says alot to me.

the only time the seatbelt minder bothers me is when I pick up a case of beer and set it on the passenger seat for easy access. Weight of the beer causes the SRS system to think somebody's in that seat. Good news is about half way through the case enough weight has been removed to make the system stop beeping. I like to think of it as sort of a built in beer-chug cheering squad.

Man, you go from getting railed on for not wearing a seatbelt and now you just tell everyone that you drink and drive, you are just a glutton for punishment.

Hey that wasn't me who doesn't wear a seatbelt. Obviously my last post was in total jest:)

I think I am smart enough to know to put on my seatbelt and so are most ppl so disabling the beeping is something i will look into. The "safety police" is everywhere in cars...enough already. Ppl want to die let THEM! stop with the ridicolous disclaimers.
-beeps when u leave ur key in. - open the door- leave the lights on ...drives me nuts sometimes.

Maybe we should ask Ben Rothlisberger (sp) about the importance of safety devices......
