i just got a offer to work on a family members farm and live there rent free so i will be able to save some money to have some car fun.

my question is do you guys think i should keep this mark and fix it up or buy a nice lower mileage one?

my current one needs a paint job and the rockers are getting soft. and it might need a trans rebuild (no problems now it just shifts a little funny.)

i figure that's about $3000- $3500. i could get a real nice mark for that price.
i just cant make up my mind.

You might be able to luck out and get the rockers done cheap, and a 98 tranny swap would not be all that much. My drivers side rocker cost $245 to have a piece welded in and done without painting by a guy doing body work on the side, and he did a nice job.

I done a 98 trans swap into a 94 for under $400 and there was 60K on the 98 trans. This includes doing the J-Mod myself and new front and rear seals. Find a cheap 98 trans with low miles and swap the electrical internals from yours, over to the 98 and the J-Mod can be done in less than 30 min. Dropping one and replacing one is the hardest part and if you have an extra set of hands to help, it's not that bad. Might take a few hours.

just remember if you decide to go gen 2 that they are extremely slow compared to gen 1's

Gen 2's def make up for it in both int and ext looks. Throw a tune on it and there dam near even in the perf aspect.

my 93 is my only car so the more i think about it the more getting a 2nd one is a better choice. that way i can drive one and modify the other with out the fear of having no car if something goes wrong.or i have a parts car if the better one goes down.

im more of a gen 1 fan . i dont really like the front of the gen 2

Gen II's have their advantages such as more features and much better headlights. I used to be like you until I drove one.

im not saying i would dismiss a nice lsc gen 2 if one was in my price range, but i prefer the looks of the gen 1
