Hi all. On warm days my key fob will not function. It works fine from late fall through to early spring, and at night during the summer. Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas as to why this would happen? My understanding is that the receiver is in the driver door module, and that part is very expensive and must be programmed by a dealer. Any other fixes out there?

Have you tried replacing the battery in the fob?
Yes, the receiver is in the driver's door module.
Can you isolate it? (Is the problem when the fob is hot or when the car is hot?)

The first thing I tried was replacing the battery in the fob. When that didn't work, I took the fob apart and cleaned it thoroughly with alcohol. When that didn't work I bought a brand new fob and had it programmed at the dealership. Problem occurs when the car is hot, not when the fob is hot. The dealership says they've never seen such a thing. Any ideas?

Well, that certainly covers it all. It has to be the module or its antenna. Sorry, no helpful ideas here. Mine did something a little similar when it was new. The remote wouldn't work when it was rainy. When it wouldn't work, I could press a key on the keypad, and then the remote would work. Of course, when it was raining was when you needed the remote to work the most. After a year or so of this, it just cured itself and has never been a problem again.

I had exactly the same thing happen to both of my cars. An LS and an Acura MDX. It ended up being that I kept my keys in a tool box drawer at work with one of those superstrong earth magnets next to the keys. It flucked up two key fobs before i figured out the problem. Dealer tried everything and couldn't figure out the problem.
