I have a 2001 Conti.
I lost my keyless entry remote and bought a replacement from eBay. After many failed attempts at programming(cycling ignition on and off 8x, pressing key on remote, also changed the battery) I am ready to just deal with it and not use a remote anymore...
The vendor I purchased the remote from suggested removing the battery leads and holding them together for 30 seconds to discharge the computer.
No dice.
I even went as far as unhooking the battery and leaving it disconnected for a few hours, the only thing that did was reset some of my ride preferences and radio options.
I called a dealer$hip and he said the only way to remedy this situation is to bring it to them and hook it up to their computer to reset the remote entry system.
I'd rather not go and pay way too much money to do something that takes a few seconds to do...
Anyone have any suggestions to maybe get this to work without shelling out alot of $$?

Thanks!

I had to do this awhile ago so I don't quite remember the steps. I think you're suppose to press the alarm button above/near the fuse box under the steering column, hold until you hear a beep, then stick each key in until the red light on the alarm goes off. I had to do this when I got new keys made and programming my key fob that has and auto starter. If the dealer ship does charge you, I don't it'll be more then 10$, but just stop by there ask them.

Just bring it to the dealer they'll do it for free.

Good to go... The remote I was sent was the wrong one. Someone put the back for the one for my car on the wrong remote. I got a different remote and it programmed in about 2 seconds like it should.
