Hey everybody, I was wondering which option works better. Is it better to go with the KKM Induction system that totally replaces the stock airbox system or to do the airbox mod, cutting out the bottom, and using a K&N panel filter? It seems to me that using the K&N panel filter might be better since the airbox might act like a heat shield from the engine compartment whereas the KKM is just out there with no shielding what so ever. My thinking is probably way off base, please let me know which way is best. Thanks! Oh yeah, this is for a 2001 Lincoln LS. Thanks again.

It's a valid argument on both sides. I went with the KKM for the "cool" factor and the performance. Some people have been able to fab a heat shield. I would like to do that as well. The purists (all of my friends) say that I am probably hurting the performance by sucking in the hot air. Either way, I'm keeping it and I am happy with my purchase. I also noticed a difference in the performance. I think it will do better with the stainless snorkel that's available. BTW, I have a barely used K&N drop in filter if you're interested.

well, i put a 4" aluminum flex tube with a screen in my fornt bumper, ran it up to the hole under my filter. when i get my car back i needed fab a heat sheild.

Does anybody else have an opinion on the subject? Is this such a no-brainer that I should be embarassed that I even posted it?
