Well......I bought my car with 101,000 miles on it and it now has close to 108,000 and I have replaced my stabilizer bar and links (due to a clunk in the front end), my ball joints under used car warranty, my shocks and struts (due to lack of anything else to spend money on), my hydraulic cooling fan pump (due to my car overheating). Those are mostly items that you don't have control over. Other items I have replaced have been a thermostat (misdiagnosis by a mechanic), transmission solenoid pack and valve body (due to harsh shifting and lack of engagement), valve cover gaskets, and brake rotors/pads in the front. Nearly all of the problems that I have listed are common problems for this car. I finally feel as though all the bugs are worked out of the car and don't anticipate any other problems. I have been problem free for over a month.......and if it weren't for the misdiagnosis on my overheating problem, I would be problem free for over 3 months.

I really feel the LS is a reliable car.......but it does have its problems (which are well documented). I fully expect my car to still be running at 200,000 miles as long as maintence is kept up (which I am religious about).....that is how confident I am about it. I would recommend (if you havent already) to switching to Mobil 1.

The other factor to consider here is how the car had been driven up to the point of your ownership. A car such as ours (with the high miles and being only 5 years old) most likely has a car with highway miles which is a blessing. I would rather have a 100,000 mile LS than a 30,000 mile LS of the same year (in our case....2000).

The best word of advice is when something isn't right with your car or you notice any change in behavior to get it fixed right away. The worst thing you can do with a car is to put off a repair. In the end, it usually ends up costing you more by delaying. Hope this helps and sorry for the long post.
