Lack of Caddie people

I was turned on to this site by someone at CarDomain pointing it out. I found that the closest to getting some custom Cadillacs in public view on line, though still severely limited. Seems I need to host my pics to show them off here, but I'd like to see as many custom ideas as possible, whether rendered on software, scanned or actually built.
I am a big fanatic of the 70s custom hot rod car craze, and have a couple ideas for slow Cads I've yet to really see anyone think of and pull off. People around here seem happy to just have a new car and leave it at that. I grew up in an era when custom cars didn't suggest you wanted a 'pimp mobile', seems a by gone era I missed out on as a kid.

Oh I think we're almost all with you on your feelings about oldschool cars.

There is in fact a lack of Caddi people here and we are continually trying to recruit new members like yourself. Have an great time on the board and spread the word.
 
Ya know, I used to read Custom Rodder, and boy, what a magazine that was!
Anyway, I think Cads started to make people think when they started producing some of the world's most powerful FWD cars ever, and made luxury and performance sync up in the domestic market again. During the late 70 and through the 80s, as evidenced by Michael Moore's Roger and Me, the big boys at GM were out of touch, and you find this true when you hear from GM design staff. Also, it's easy to mis-conceive the site to be pro-Ford/anti-GM, but the fact remains, Lincoln AND Cadillac were the children of the same father! It is also noted that during GM's formation, Ford was up for sale twice and ALMOST became a GM insignia. This is most interesting, recently reported in Collector Car magazine's look back on Cadillac history.

I like some Fords, as I do anything automotive, but only owning GM cars since my first, I have to admit I'm biased. What I want to see is more ways to mod a 79 to 85 Eldorado, namely the 84/85 convertibles to a better performing car. I've read that this is a very strong contender for collector status in the years ahead. The whole ETC sprang from the Touring Coupe of this series of cars. The 79 design started in 1975, from a whole classic school of thought. GM pushed the following downsized cars on the desingers...so don't blame them too much.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the Caddy club and it's an honor to be in the group. I recently acquired a 1987 Coupe Deville. I'll have pics of it up as soon as I post 5 times LOL. I can't believe the attention this car generates when I drive it. Even people in mild-custom Civics stare & wave LOL. I was gonna take her to the car wash today because me & my friends had it out last night & the roads are snow covered & full of slush, but it's really cold & the roads are still full of crap (any excuse to drive it LOL).

To say that I'm new to Cadillacs isn't entirely true. Granted I've never owned one until now, when I was 16 back in 1989 I learned to drive with my grandfather's 1974 Sedan Deville, that car made mine look compact LOL. Before getting this car, I had my eye on a 1994 Bonneville SSEi, but the body wasn't as good as the Caddy & didn't run as smooth. Plus the Caddy turns more heads!!!

My 2 room-mates are import lovers. He likes Toyotas & she likes Hondas, but fell in love with the Cad's comfort, smooth ride & all that luxury. Out of all the Caddy's made in the 80's, the 87-88 Coupe Deville with the ragtop-style vinyl top was my favorite. Mine's black cherry metallic with the white ragtop vinyl roof & wire wheel covers & wine velour interior.

I'm just as guilty. I have both, see my sig, but I discuss and read about the Lincoln, only cuz I know so much about the Caddies... I suppose I really should invest in the Caddy Aspect.

The Cadillac's crest was modelled after the family crest of Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, the French explorer who founded Detroit.

I have owend nothing but Cadillacs (with the exception of one 1976 Olds
98 - Which I still have) My first car was a brand new 1970 Coupe de Ville,
I really loved that car and I would still have it but it met an unfortunate
end in an accident (long sad story) I have two Cadillacs now 1989 sedan de
ville (owned since Nov '89 and a 1994 Concours (since March 95) I have
loved Cadillacs since I was 12 years old. (The Lincolns I liked the best are
the 1958 - 1965) I also liked the 1957 - 1966 Imperials
