Over on BON it was posted that the last LS body was built today an the Last LS will roll off the line sometime in the next few days. :( :( :( :(

wow that sucks... do you know where they are sending this infamous last LS? lol i dunno what Lincoln is thinkin... i was at the dealership the other day and the guy said this was the last year for the Aviator too, is that true?

sad day in Lincoln history  haha

That's interesting. I thought they weren't going to roll the last one off until May. I guess the demise of Wixom moved it up. Too bad if you are wanting an LS this year. Pickings will be slim after spring I bet. So, if you were planning to buy a 2006 LS you better get it now!

I think the aviator is being replaced by a new crossover vehicle. Not sure if it will have the same name.

It'd be nice if they built the last one with the cobra motor in it, just for our sake:) That last one produced might be some kind of collector's item.

no its not the same name... i believe they are replacing it with the 2007 Lincoln MKX... i think somebody posted it on here before, it was at the Detroit Auto Show this year along with the concept MKS... heres a site about it... IMO i like the Aviator a helluva lot better

The Aviator is being replaced by the MKX crossover that was unveiled at NAIAS last week. The LS has had seriously flagging sales over the last several months; IIRC, the last month's sales were well under 1000 units. They're doing really well on the secondary market, but they're not doing at all well in the new car sales arena...

They don't advertise enough. I'd love to see a marketing campaign manager from Cadillac come and do a few commercials for Lincoln, outhandling a 5 series or something.

They've actually been advertising quite a bit over the last few months. I know they've been advertising quite a bit during the programs I watch (NFL, Discovery Channel, etc.).

FORD is in Trouble... You kill the LS and come out with another SUV??
How much is gas right now...? I know, that don't mean much to the Luxo Market. But it does to most. Its not just about the marketing either... You gotta have a product people want to buy and then market it well. I'm like the only guy on my block with an AMERICAN car!! Even my Muscle Car Neighbor's wife is driving a RICER??? See Article BELOW...

HAPEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Mark Gilmore moved with his teenage son from Ohio to Georgia 18 months ago in a quest for more stable work at the Ford Motor Co. assembly plant outside Atlanta. Now, he's regretting the decision after the automaker announced Monday it is shuttering the plant along with 13 other facilities in a major cost-cutting move.

"It's a shame when you can give your whole life to something and then it crumbles right in front of you," said Gilmore, 34.

Other employees at Ford plants in North America slated for closure reacted with emotions ranging from anger to disappointment to surprise. The company said 25,000 to 30,000 jobs will be lost.

"Their hopes and dreams and aspirations and secure future are gone for now," said Ken Dearing, president of the local union that represents Ford workers at the Hazlewood, Mo., plant outside St. Louis, which also will be idled.

Besides the Georgia and Missouri plants, Ford also said it will idle Michigan's Wixom assembly plant and Ohio's Batavia transmission plant. Windsor Casting in Ontario also will be idled. Ford has not yet named another two assembly plants it expects to shutter.

I've never seen an LS commercial. I've seen commercials for the other models though.

ive seen it like twice maybe... and most everybody who sees my car dont even know what it is, when i say its a Lincoln, they look surprised and say 'Lincoln what?'... i swear that happens to me every other time im at the gas station

'hey what kind of car is that?' 'a Lincoln LS'.... 'Lincoln LS?? never heard of it, looks nice tho'... WTF?

The Lincoln commercials used to say: "Travel Well" Now they say: "Reach Higher"? That slogan sucks. :(

They needed many more commercials.

WOW this is sad gentlemen, I just cant stop thinking how much I personally am going to miss this car in the Lincoln line up. Ford better break out the MKS and make it worth owning or I am out! Jaguar here I come!

The MKS looks like a nice replacement for the LS, but I think they will screw something up by the time they ready it for production.

Thats funny man, I have an 03 LS V8, I went to the bank last week, and some young guy, wearing a suit, asked me if my car was a zephur. I didn't even know what to say, but at least he knew it was a lincoln. I love my car, it gets way more attention than the 97 mustang i had, which had extremely loud exhaust by the way.

I've seen an LS in exactly two commercials; both were back around August of 2005, when they were running the Ford Family Pricing Plan. That's probably the reason I've noticed the recent Lincoln ads. There's no way the LS would be in those; they're already losing money on each LS they build, so why compound it by losing money advertising them too?

You're confusing Ford with GM again--they're the ones putting all their eggs in the SUV basket. The MKX is a crossover, not an SUV; it's really more akin to a station wagon than a truck.

The LS has been a money loser for Lincoln pretty much its entire run, and its sales have gone through the floor recently. (They're apparently hot on the secondary market, but that doesn't help Lincoln.) And, if everything pans out as expected, the LS is being killed to be replaced by a technically superior vehicle, the MKS (or whatever it's called when it comes to market).

GM has just delayed their RWD platforms. While Ford is wrecking LINCOLN gm has been rebuilding Caddy. Once the SUV rollout is complete GM will be releasing some nice cars.

Superior?? In what way. More overweight high center of gravity AWD junk. Ford can't even name its Lincoln cars correctly. They think the model names are too popular. So they'll kill Avaitor, Navigator, et al and come up with alpha-numeric mumbo jumbo so the brand (Lincoln) will be better know than its models.

Same thinking cost Acura 4 years of sales growth a few years ago when they killing the Legend (RL) name because studies showed more people knew Legend as a good car than Acura as a good brand. Load of crap then, a load of crap now.

Ford marketing mavens have killed more good cars than they ever sold. XR4Ti should have been Capri, LS should have been Contenental. Infinity comes out with a slow selling model (J30). They make slow improvements, after a few years they do a rework call it the G35 and have a winner that gives birth to the M45. Lincoln has a car that covers the same market and rather than slow steady improvements and good marketing they let it stagnate in the market and then shoot it down because sales aren't as high as expected.
