I went to the gas station this morning to get a pig-in-a blanket and left my car running with the doors locked, I got back to my car and forgot the key code to unlock it. So here I am in front of the gas station randomly pushing buttons. In this process of pushing random buttons I hear CLICK, I got the right sequence, made to work just in time

If the car came with an owners manual, there should be (I think) 3 more codes besides the one on the trunk hinge. There *might* be the code card, its a plastic card for your wallet that has a code sticker on it. Then inside the book there should be one or two removable stickers that you can place on something of your liking.

LOL! I've been there! Before I fixed the drivers door handle on my car I locked my keys in the car plenty of times before I started carrying the extra set of keys with me!

What really sucks... Is the car wasnt even locked! I just couldnt get in the drivers side!

Plus it's on the trunk arm. not that it would help you. I have it hidden under my ashtray lid but I use it everyday so there's no problem with me forgetting.

Yeah I cleaned my battery terminals 1 day and forgot to reset the code and locked myself out the next day at work! LOL

I want to shave the door handles but I don’t want to lose the key pad, so I thought about mounting it under the car somewhere.

ive thought about this and i think you could retrofit the newer style key pad into the window trim, look at some of the newer ford expeditions. but overall ive figured if you shave the handles your gonna have a fob to pop them so whats the need for the pad?

If I shaved the door handles I would eliminate the entire locking part of the mechanism.... so no point for the keypad.

Becasuse my dumb ass would lock the keys in the car with the FOB on them. its just a nice back up.

grab a business card from anywhere, write the code on it, put it in your wallet....or just get it tattooed on the back of your neck so you can ask a stranger to read it to you

Be glad it worked out for you like it did.....I was stuck at the edge of town, Christmas morning, phone and wallet (this is where I had my door codes) on passenger seat.....I had just got back from CA.......so I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt. (I live in IL) Two block walk to the nearest house, phone brother-in-law, 25 min. drive here with my spare key. I had went back to my car.....the people who let me use their phone offered to let me stay there, but their young kids wanted to continue opening presents (7am), and seemed a little put off by the fat trucker in shorts and t-shirt on Christmas morning deal. I can laugh about this now....ha ha ha...lol....NOT

I had gotten out to grab something out of the trunk.....car locked itself.....only time it ever happened....don't know why.....tried to get it to happen many times again, in a controlled setting, but it never did.

This happened to me once when I came back from deployment. My wife wasn't gonna be home to pick me up when my ship pulled in, so I asked her to lock the keys in the car and I would just use the code to get into it. I didn't even think about remembering the code until I got to the car and couldn't remember it. Had to have AAA come out and unlock my car!
