hey lincoln ls owners....I have a 2002 lincoln ls and i just replaced all the interior lights with led bulbs....i noticed that the dome lights stay on very dim after i turn them on and off and even when the cars off....i just want to know if anybody knows if they can burn the plastics where the lights are held in by or cause any damage ? and also why they stay on and what i could do about it ...thanksfor anybodys help..

You need to add some resistors.

do a search and you will find the answers or wait for someone to reply.

You dont see it with incandescent lamps becuase they take more power to turn on.

But there always a small amount of voltage even when the car is shut off.

they wont burn your plastic, led's dont get nearly as hot as the stock bulbs

It won't cause any harm. As long as you don't mind them being on dimly like that, you don't need to do anything. They should turn off completely about twenty or thirty minutes after you last disturb the car.

The electronic circuits that control the lights have a very small leakage current when off. LEDs, unlike bulbs, will light faintly with very little power.

+1

My LEDs stay on dim until the "Lincoln Battery Saver" (or whatever it is called) turns off the circuit.

Just one more "its okay" for you.

I have replaced all interior lights in my 06 Chevy (i know its a bad word here, but what can I say) HHR with blue L.E.Ds and the front map lights have been on for over 3 years. Never once have I had a low battry or any heat issues and they stay on 24/7 at a dim glow.

Its all good and people who don't know any better will think its something extra cool.
