Left Rear Brake/Turn light problem with my 98 Mark VIII

The other day I got a "Check Brake Lamp" warning and found that my left rear lamp is not working for the brake or turn signal. All other lights work just fine. The turn flasher flashes quickly like they do when a bulb goes out, but the problem isn't the bulb or the socket. I've already cleaned all the connectors.

Any ideas?

I'm thinking it might be the Multifunction switch.

I got a message when the third brake light went out.
Check wires that follow trunk hinge.

I am such a Goober!!! I didn't look closely enough at what I was doing and I had been checking out the backup light & socket!!! :slam

Changed the CORRECT bulb and all is fine!
