Hey guys, just wanting some input, and didn't want to thread jack the MN Meet thread.

I recently tinted the lenses via JWerner's method, and installed them back into the housing. Let me know which one you think looks better!

Despite sounding very biased, my opinion leans towards the freakin lenses!

They look so damn good on your car. Just might wanna go back to amber markers and dye those also!

i was asking myself the same question, what looks better, but without the corner lenses i think comparing it , the delete would look more ricer, i believe that the tinted lenses makes the car look more sleeker, and a little more foreign, im going to stick with the lenses for now, but i agree to dye yours a little darker, i let my simmer for about 90 minutes, dont use rubbing compound though, it will rub off some dye, just do a light coat of wax, and wipe off with a tissue , works good
 
The compound shouldn't rub it off like that. Makes sure you let the dye run clear under cool water long enough. I rubbed the hell out of mine and didnt see any dye come out.


I was never a fan of the chrome turn signal approach at all.
 
I just used Meguiar's PlastX for polishing, to give it a little shine.

If anything, don't use a wax. Use a paint sealant. Simply because of the melting points. A carnauba wax will generally melt at about 180 degrees Fahrenheit. A paint sealant will generally melt at about 350 degrees.

Thanks, man. I'm not sure about tinting the markers, because then they would really stand out on the bumper. I like the blending in of the clear lenses down there.
 
Leave the clear markers and the tinted corners. The tint looks alot better than the clear. It makes the grille and lower grille pop.
 
The tinted lenses do look alot better. I agree that it smoothes out the headlights. I like the clear also, but that's not too bad.
 
tinted, like a few other posts have said it really bring your black grilles together on the car.

I see you have not blacked out the chrome window trim. Do you still plan on using the 3M pinstriping to do that?

Your right it does match the bumper itself. But I still think the side markers should blend and match with the lenses.

IMO, but hey its all you and its always nice no matter what you do.
 
I like that it's darker so the headlights are accented more. But I don't like that it's amber. If only you had a clear lens you could put in and tint...

Also, you couldn't get a Chevelle in the shot background this time? :D
 
I like the tinted lenses. It makes it look more complete. The bumper lights look good clear since your car is so light they blend in.

I thought about that. that was my biggest concern with these was the amber still showing through. I could always paint the chrome reflector bowl black, so no light would reflect from behind it, making it appear black until illuminated by the bulb.

Yeah that Chevelle was pretty lucky. We'll see if I can't snag one today. Everyone brings their classic cars out on Thursdays here.
 
i would say no lenses, if you had a LSE grill and a V6 bumper (chrome trim) because it has a little more chrome to match, but you dont, so i would stay with the tinted lenses because the darker color matches your grill a little better.

i would defintily not tint the side markers(a dark color anyways) as it would make them stick out even more, what i would recomend is that you mix a little bit of your paint code with some clear, and spray them, basicly tinting them body color but still letting some light through, just an idea to try to make them even less noticible, however since clears are hard to come by, i'm not sure how to test this with out messing them up, maybe wrap them in saran wrap (sp? the clear sh!t that everybody has in there kitchen to wrap food in) real tight and then spray them.
 
That's a pretty good idea about color tinting the side markers. When I swapped out the amber lenses for the clears, I body matched the inside of the housing while the assembly was apart. So right now they color match a little already. In a perfect world, those damn sidemarkers wouldn't even be there.

Eerily enough, my work is right next door to a graveyard.

It's kinda nice. We can be as loud as we want, and the neighbors don't complain at all.

Mine are still painted black and you can see the amber still.

Personally I think the amber when its smoked looks good.
