well it has begun, this will be mark VIII #4 but this time its my own. i have started the dreaded sanding on my black 93. i have only worked on it a few hours but by thusday it will most likely be all sanded. maybe over the weekend it will be in primer so i can begin block sanding it early next week. i have decided to swap both front fenders, the driverside i was going to anyway because its dented, but the pass side had something kicked at it by the front tire and it put a ding in the well body line straight behind the tire and i would be wasting my time trying to straighten it, so i have enough fenders i can swipe 2 of them. i also have a new grille for the front that i have already stripped the chrome and painted black, all the trim on the tail lights and trunk light is now black, as is the marker light chrome trim and the hood chrome trim, i will also be painting the chrome trim around the doors and quarter windows black as well and stripping off all emblems except the trunk lock cover and the grille emblem, the front emblem recess in the bumper will be shaved and filled and so will the holes in the trunk from the 2 emblems back there. i am even debating just for now to paint the snowflakes black and leave the outside edge polished until i can get some 18's for it. but here she is so far, talk about a hell of an eye sore, and yes, im still driving it around like this lol. its ebarassing. this is my first crappy looking mark VIII out of 5!

I see a diamond in the rough! Lol. Be a nice car once its all done.

I would leave the chrome around the windows and just get ride of the snowflakes and opt for new and biger rims, mine will look like that in a few week's. Good luck, is that the one you painted the interior on also?

i didnt paint the interior, i swapped the interior from another mark VIII. and im deffinetly painting the chrome around the windows, im getting rid of all the chrome, everything will be black except the wheels in the end, i'll go with chrome or polished wheels.

lol yeah i did paint the dash but i didnt know the dash was the meaning of interior. the dash was painted, everything on the dash, and from there on back is all from another car. i thought about changing the dash over too, then i got that out of my head quick.

how did you paint the tail light and front hood/corner trim??..

did you remove it first??..

i have all extra pieces i was going to drop off at my guy.. i am woried about the paint coming off if the whole piece of trim isnt painted..

but then i have to re-glue the pieces back to the lights.. PITA in guessing

im leaving the trim around the side windows and the rear trunk lock cover (just the sliding piece) chrome... i feel that wont be too much chrome and just enough to accent the wheels..

i also was thinking of doing all chrome black ..and then getting my saleens changed over to Black Chrome !!!.. but once i do that theres no going back so im a little hesitant

i sanded all the chrome first with 220, then sprayed it all with etching primer which bites into metal, then i painted it will hold up well. i didnt take the trim off the lights, i masked it off reall carefully, the hood chrome i took off the car and did and the lights i removed before painting too. etching primer is the bomb when it comes to painting chrome, but you do have to scuff it really well first.

going to pick up my 3 inch cowl for it tomorrow i cant wait to get the hood done. i'll have to update the pics.

today i picked up a 3 inch cowl scoop for it and started putting it on around 11 am, i stopped at 10 pm i was hungry and cold. its almost finished, tomorrow i will do my finishing sanding and take the hood off , flip it over and cut out the underside and finish that in resin and cloth too and make the hood functional. then i'll primer it and leave it for now. until its all one solid color it doesnt look that good, but once its in primer i'll take more pics, the scoop came out really nice i am very happy with it. i got it from a guy in pinellas park this morning, he just made it last night, it was still very soft thats why i rushed back to work on it while it was so plyable. the center line is so perfect, this was actually molded for an 88 - 98 chevy silverado but i cut off the front lip and the centerline matches the centerline on the hood, this thing followed the stock lincoln hood so awesome. i snagged it for 60 bucks!!
