I know I've been real ugly on some of my posts lately, I know in these times, with the election going on and EVERYTHING happening around us, we all seem to get a smidgen touchy(God and everyone else appearently knows I have.... ) . Maybe it's time to let it all go and think of something pleasent to put ourselves back into perspective.
I don't know if this will help, but who knows?

I know I shot my mouth off about how horrible 1992 was for me, however, that year also happens to be one of the best years for music also.
Who could forget the blissful sounds of P.M.Dawn and Arrested Development?
or the way Anthony Kedis belted out his passion for L.A. (and Heroin :slam )
in Under The Bridge? The bumpin' thump of Sir Mix A Lot's Baby Got Back or the Jazz-Cat sling of The Re-Birth of Slick by the Digable Planets (I'm cool like that, cool like that, cool like that.......).I heard the bizzare edginess of Mr.Bungle at a concert in Austin,Tx that year and got hooked. I saw the (IMO) the world's greatest band, The Ramones (also in Austin) and got a poster signed(which I still have framed) by them. Late in that year, I also went with a cherished girlfriend to see Elton John (guess where?)(Jenni,if for some reason you might come across this post, you still have a special place in my heart.)(that might have been in early'93...oops!) I also remember watching R.E.M. film the "Everybody Hurts" video on the section of I-10 that was being completed at the time, that was actually pretty cool, I also knew the guy that had the yellow'66 Chevelle in the background. That was also the year Cheli and I drunkenly proposed to each other on Mustang Island during Spring Break in between vomiting spells, still have it somewhere on videotape.
(Remedy was playing in the background,I think, or it might have been The Happy Mondays, the audio sucked on that camcorder!)

You know, it's kind of funny how so many fond memories also happen during what you would think are the worst times in your life?

I don't know, I just wanted to get some fluff out to maybe set me "back on track".

OK, don't ever do that again. You just made me feel extremely old, especially because half the songs you mentioned I have on cassette singles!

How romantic, what "happy" memories! :Bang

If you knew what a living hell that relationship was, unfortunately, it was one of our shining moments. And it's really saying alot!(Such-as when I was 20)

BTW I have C&C Music Factory in the tape deck right now!
:dancefool (Dant,Dant,Dant,Dant----Dant-Dant,Dant,Dant) :dancefool
Funny thing is, I was in my 2nd year of college then, READING CHOMSKY! I don't feel THAT old. :dancefool :facesjump :zgreenbou :headbang:

So do I but can you say that you have an 8 track player in your house as well as one of your cars!

8-Tracks, Cassettes, Reel to Reel - Remember when LPs were for listening to and not use as a musical instrument!

And why do they still call it when a Goup releases a new CD that they completed an LP. LOL.

:I (LOL) YEAH! Why is that a new CD release is still called an LP or a compilation on CD is called an EP?

Ok, let's pull out the 78's and play some Wax.

Remember the great stack of 45's that would get scratched as you let one fall down upon the other. Or the sound getting slower as the weight on the turn table increased.

Yes, LP's and 45's were actually played on a turn table (record player)!

They also go round and round in one direction.

Remember when the thought of someone cratching your LP's would send you into a fury. Now it's the only way they are played.

1992 hmmmmmmm! In came Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains,Soundgarden, Nirvana,Mother Love Bone,Screaming Trees, Janes Addiction....and out went bands I love like Ratt, Poison,Cinderella, Tesla,Motley Crue, Kiss, Dokken,Def Leppard.and so on, Not that the grundge era was bad, i like a lot of bands, but I grew up a headbanger through and through, and some of the 80's metal bands are still around but not as strong. www.metalsludge.com I am a true Cruehead, and get to talk to Nikki Sixx a couple times a year, a reunion with all members may happen this year. anyway 1992 was the year I met my first wife, married in 1994, divorced 8 months later, go figure! Now I am re married and feel old reading this thread! :Bang :monkey: :eek2:

I agree... some people get waaay too personal about it. I don't even like browsing those (political) forums anymore because of it.

personal attacks also arent needed. We're all adults here...

with that being said... :L

<to S.C. Steve> Right on! (and) Thank you for being observant.;)

I still have all my 45's (they may be all scratched up, but they're the only thing left from my childhood.) Even my 1st 45 "Rubberband Man" by the Spinners, I remember, I was 4 years old, and my Mother and I were in the BX (Base Exchange) and I wanted the record because I liked the color of the record label. Didn't know anything about the song, (BTW). I screamed and screamed to get that record. (Mom) gave in, but when we got out to the Custom Cruiser, she lit me up like a Christmas tree!
I never did care too much for the song, though. But, after all I went through, I made sure I was gonna get my booty's worth out of it.

*It's a cute little anecdote related to the direction of this thread* ;)

I know, the punk genre was taken out by grunge too. I know I mentioned several hip-hop and pop tunes in the original post, however, also at that time I was heavily into groups like: The Dead Kennedys,The Exploited, Misfits, Lawnmower Deth, Ministry,Skinny Puppy,Napalm Death,THE RAMONES!, et al. (If I used these groups, no one would have a clue as to what I'm talking about, more than likely.) Grunge (and later MILK Punk bands like green day, blink 182 and oh what's that other really popular milk punk group's name? Oh well, they're all the same now, anyways.)(Good Charlotte!)
IMO: however, Alice In Chains was the only grunge group that was even remotely decent to listen to. And also Jane's Addiction had been under a major label since about '86 or '87 they are alternative/(or the term I prefer,) Industrial rock. (BTW, even though I never would have admitted it, in say '89-ish but I'm crazy about the 'Crue myself! And I know all too well, the friends I still get into contact with have at least a cassingle from Motley Crue (or even worse, (does Winger ring a bell?)
Sheee's on-ly se-ven-teeeeeeeeen (SEH-Ven-Teen!) her dad says she's too young............ (ROFL) :headbang: WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Hey! If we can't laugh at ourselves............AND our skeletons...........)
