My new 94 (100K, dealer serviced since new) runs beautifully, but I notice a very light rattle over expansion joints (from what sounds like the right rear) and when accelerating hard it is obvious that something is loose back there, the toe in changes abruptly on the 1-2 shift and the car tries to jump sideways - the harder I'm accelerating the more it happens. Feels like the toe in may be changing abruptly, once again I'm thinking it is looseness in the right rear.

Anyone have and advice on what to check and what goes bad back there?

John

Are you saying that the rear end goes sideways? If that is the case, then you may have bad hub bearings in the rear. Or, possibly the swaybar has broken, but more than likely the hub bearing is shot. If this is the case I recommend replacing both even if the other is fine.

Check the swaybar - they are hollow on the Marks and prone to rust. Get a solid replacement from a late model Thunderbird SC.

Mine would go sideways on the 1-2 shift, too. But that's because I left out the lower spring when I did the 1-2 accumulator upgrade. ;)
