Now i understand that the mustang and the LS are built based on the same platform. I also understand that the LS has a non standard 8'' rear diff. is there any way that the stock Mustang GT diff would fit in the place of our open Diffs. I must say even with this V6 it is annoying so i can only imagine the V8's and more so that 390hp jag.

What are the other options if any.
 
I think "quik ls" will correct me if i wrong but the ls and the mustang dont share anything. The ls is based on the jaguar s-type not the mustang. the new t-bird shares the powertrain w/the ls.

As you can see, not only do they not share the same platform, the mustang is the exclusive owner of it's platform!

The only mustang that even has IRS is the 03-04or05 COBRAs. The new mustang is live axle again.

The SN95-2 (the platform containing the IRS Cobra's) had cobras manufactured in 1999, 2001 (these were the NON-SC 4.6L 4V and had the 28 spline IRS differential unit). The 2003 and 2004 cobras had the SC 4.6L 4V and used the 31 spline IRS differential unit. Also included in the mix of IRS mustangs is the 2000 Cobra R which used the 5.4L 4V, non-SC and ran the 28 spline differental unit.
 
Ford tried to build the mustang off the LS - there was even a proto-type build - but the costs of using the DEW98 platform was just too high - good but high

so... only the design of the floor pans actually made it into the mustang -some other systems - like the PCM are 'based' on the lincoln.

I have a new T2 Torsen Cobra LSD in a LS diff housing sitting on my workbanch right now - it will be my next project....

I've been waiting or a while now to hear the results on this one... hurry up and get on it!!!

I even talked to the guys at DTS (drive train specialists; if you read just about ANY automotive mag, they have adds in there) about an LSD for the LS and they pretty much said "can't help ya".

If you figure this one out, I'm going to take my diff and everything else into DTS (I'm about 40min from one of their two locations and I've had them do work for me before) and have them replicate whatever it is you come up with. I hate open diffs!! Anyway, I've been waiting updates on this for a while. I want to see some magic happen!!!
 
Yeah i actually visited the site above and understand that they are not exact but i read somewhere that the mustangs was a modified version.

But this is precisly why i asked to see from people more familiar with the car than I.

Thanks cant wait to have something other than open diff Quik LS so i am not rushing you but lets git r done.
