ill sell you my 2000 lincoln town car with 98,780 miles for 8,000 USD. pick up only or ship at your expense......

The 98-00 are the old style frame with the non performance improved engine, the 01-02 are the old style frame with Performance improved engines, the 03-04 got a new frame with rack and pinion steering, 05 received Throttle by wire.

I would stay away form 98-00 due to the older enging design and intakes that crack. I would also stay away from 03 becuase of faulty rear axles. I would stay away from 05 because I don't like throttle by wire.

So if I were in the Market I would either get an 01-02 or an 04.... and would be way more apt to get an 04 for the new tighter steering.

How about a 91. :p :p :p

wait, so the 01-02 all have the PI engines? i thought it was just the cartier models and touring package signature series models.

Bastard block engine... AODE.... Fail

*AOD for a -'92.5 :D

AODE = '92.5-'94

All 2001 to current.

The factory intakes on 2001 models can also rupture, the switch to the aluminum coolant crossover was 2002+

I wouldn't let nPI or PI be the deciding factor for your Town Car purchase, especially if you have no intention to modify it.

The PI engine actually makes the TC feel SLOWER in normal low rpm driving conditions IMO, especially since the programming wants to get the car in a higher gear as fast as possible.

If you want a Town Car for that Town Car ride, I wouldn't go for a 2003 or newer although handling and steering improved. The front suspension is MUCH harsher by comparison because of the improvements. Mixed blessing.
They did soften up considerably for 2006.5+ with the lower control arm change, though.
Ford also made sure to soften the shock valving of the standard monotube shocks just mid year into the '03 model because of complaints.

I'm partial to the '98-'02 body style. We have an '02 now, great car. I did like the '99 we had before it better, though. I liked the interior and ride of the '96 we had even more :biggrin:
