i've heard stories that Ford took the 4.0 and de-stroked it to make it 3.9 and then put in the LS. i'm looking to rebuild my 3.9 bc it spun a bearing. however there are no rebuild kits available specific for the LS. (at least not that i can find) so i'm trying to figure out if a rebuild kit for the 4.0 would get me what i need. and if so does anybody know where to get one?

All AJ engines---3.3, 3.5, 3.9, 4.0, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.7 and 5---have more commonness than difference. The 3.9 has, as far as I know, the only oil filter placed in the front. The Jag engines have the filter on the pass side right where the LS mounts the pump for the fan. At least there is FAR more similarity than difference.
Actually, it's most likely to be easier to find a good 4.2 than a 4. So far as I know, the 4 isn't used in any current-manufacture application. And if you should find an Aston Martin 4.2, it would have dry-sump oiling.

I bought my 4.0, as a core, for $750.00 You'll expect to pay about 5K for a complete used blower engine.

Rebuild parts must come from England. Main bearings are matched to the block during manufacture and come as an assembly.
I believe there are a few pictures in the 'Land Speed LS' thread.
