Lincoln Chrome Wheels

When my 2003 LS was new, it came with the optional eight spoke chrome wheels and I’m sure they were quite nice. Now, 170k miles later, none of the four wheels could hold air because the chrome was peeling away so badly. I had to refill at least two tires with air every 3 days as they were losing about 5lbs per day.

Well, having enough of that I found a nice set of the Lincoln seven spoke machined aluminum wheels and installed those. Happy days again. The aluminum wheels are so much lighter in weight than my old crappy chrome wheels. You can really feel the difference when driving.

Has anyone here had problems with the chrome peeling away from your wheels?

I bought a 2003 about 2 months ago and the chrome was all peeling off the insides and folded up and rubbing on the brake caliper so it went tick tick tick tick when I drive. Outside look good still though so I peeled it all off the inside and keep driving. I don't lose any air at all, chrome is just a coating on the outside.

I might be wrong but on my 03 LS the Oasis report showed all 4 of my chrome rims had been replaced under some ford thing cause of the same issue. Not sure if it was a recall or what exactly but makes me wonder if they did any kinda of recall on them rims.
