Why cant you just get rid of your mufflers completely on an LS? Or can you? Wouldnt running no mufflers at all be louder and more powerful than running mufflers? What are the positives and negatives to doing this? Any responses are greatly appreciated

Some have gone with no mufflers, just keeping the resonators and others have gone with no resonators and just keeping the mufflers, but going with straight pipes and no mufflers or resonators at all would be a bit excessive in my opinion.

It's all a matter of taste and sound levels inside the cabin. I started up my LS V8 once with open pipes when I was installing my Magnaflow system and it was loud inside the car. Too loud for me, but maybe not for you.

The only other down-side is that you will lose some torque from the engine due to the lack of back pressure. So the best thing for you to do is to try it yourself and see if you like it. It would be a simple job to fab up some pipes and you won't hurt anything other than your ears. :D

I went with no resonators only and it sounds pretty good a lot like the 350z

OK, about exhaust systems......I haven't been able to find much out, but I only see magnaflow offered as an exhaust system for the LS V8 03-06. The Borla and B&B only seem to be available for 2000-02. I see nothing from other manufacturers. Is this correct?

Just order whatever mufflers you want and have a muffler shop weld you up something. I'll be doing that on mine very soon.

There is Magnaflow, Borla and B&B. They are available for '00-'02. They no longer make the Borla kit.

The Magnaflow you see for '03-'06 is not officially available yet. Only one person has it. T_Man is the lucky guinea pig for it!

Do any of the S Type Jaguar applications fit, i.e. does anyone know if the similarities of the chassis include the exhaust routing/fitment of a catback? I see a system that looks promising here:

http://www.jaguarxp.com/jagxp/Jaguar S-Type/Performance/Mina_gallexhaust system.htm

Or the Remus Mufflers.....tips here:

http://www.remus.at/php/index.php?cmd=cmdFrontendProducts&iProductMotor=122936

and the Remus mufflers on the Jag site link:

http://www.jaguarxp.com/jagxp/Jaguar S-Type/Performance/Remus exhaust system.htm

And in regards to price, you'll not catch me griping, if I can just find a decent system that can work I'll be happy.

Well now I must be the very first person to ever ask this question......I feel honored.......

................ahem, but have a feeling this is falling on deaf ears.

To hell with it, might as well buy the bleedin Jag exhaust and take my chances.

Rod.... I had to go look under an S-Type to be sure.

Just from eyeballing the exhaust, it looks very similar to the LS. But be aware that some modifications may have to be done to make it fit. The S-Type pipes may be a bit too short or too long, the mounting hangers may be off a little and the rear tips may exit in the wrong location.

So, is nothing a good muffler shop can't fix, but you still might be better off cost wise having a custom exhaust built to your own specifications.

If you go ahead with the S-Type exhaust on your LS, please be sure to let us all know how it goes.

I agree with TMAN, I got the magna flow when it was around a grand and I wish I would have gotten my own custom setup built. Single mufflers are not that expensive in some casses or most and the pipes can be done for a smalll price compared to when I dished out all that cash. Grant it the systems I got are really cheap now,I wasted money and its not that cool sounding, I would prefer a loud rumble this is just a low billowing tone. I want something that growls, sounds like a muscle car.

B&B are in north Phoenix, they had a lot of listings for Porsche's and showed one for 2000-2003 Lincoln LS, but I think the 2003 was a typo. Can't remember what the B&B stands for off the top of my head.....they flat denied me an LS application when I asked......got the short answer like they wanted me to go away.....

Might try the Bassani component approach.....It's been suggested to me and I kind of 'like' Bassani.

A local shop (Bassani Dealer) tells me a system for the LS would be over 2 grand.......I'm not cheap but really now......

The Jag systems are looking better and better now.....

Hee Heee Heeeee. Jag 'Mina' galleries exhaust is on the way for my '05 V8, will know about fitment in 'hopefully' about a week or so.

By the way, the Remus is likely another option but the only contact I could find was still for a Jag fitment and would take like 6 weeks to get, while it comes from mainland Europe (Austria I believe) and the supplier I talked to said not to count on much of a sound difference, power increase yes but it's supposedly very quiet. The Mina is supposedly a little louder when the throttle is tweaked.....

I've been watching for the delivery like a little kid....

make sure you post up pictures and a sound clip! I think this is a first as far as ive seen so kudos for going out on a limb.

I'll try, not sure on how to do a sound clip but will handle that when the time comes. I just need the bleedin thing to show up now......how long can it take to get this thing from Calif to Ariz? The mule must need frequent water stops......

May I be the first?

Why go to all this trouble, why not just get a custom fitment made to how you want it or how it should be with the Cats, and Mufflers from other Companies that are actually better.?

Save you money, and probably gain more as well.

Going with the most budget choice is full of compromise and if that needs to be explained to anyone I'll never convince you anyway.

My choice? I don't want the ONLY choice that seems to be out there as everyone will be on the magnaflow if not stock. I want my car to be uniquely mine and personalizing is my choice. Not sure why it has to be challenged anyway, I wasn't talking smack about anyone elses choice.

The custom made system is stainless, mandrel bent, with hangers in place, stainless polished mufflers researched properly for these cars and dyno'd for the 3.9/4.2 Jag V8's. I SERIOUSLY doubt a homemade budget system can come up with the same horsepower that one of these systems makes, let alone more. To prove a point, the Remus system is rated the same as the Mina and yet is as quiet as the stock system, that's R&D. However my choice is to make more sound than stock......

How can a f'in pipe be so low budget its a pipe, and you get the mufflers cheap no matter what cause they are just the mufflers not cause they are low budget. I wasnt talking smack your nuts I anit even explaining my self on this one. You obviously are haveing problems obtaining your wonder exhaust anyway. And what system these day arent mandrel bent and fully stainless? What do you compromise, the fact that you cant say I got something uniquely my own that I paid out the ass for and you didnt?

I see no point beeing proven, all I said was get the pipes have them bent and find some good mufflers( BASICLY IN OTHER WORDS) not some overated garbage, wtf is good with Remus anyway No point is proven to me when you say Remus friend I hate Remus and they suck more than the Magnalow.

............... And what system these day arent mandrel bent and fully stainless? ................QUOTE]

Custom shop made systems aren't........

Personally dude, you 'usually' (no, not always, but usually) get what you pay for. And I have a little experience on the subject having bought my first sports car over 3 decades ago......

As for the rest you win, I'm no good at this 'ripping' on each other. I'm just trying to show there's another choice out there and I'm going to try to report to others that might be interested on the experience. If they chose to not invest in my "over rated garbage" then they can take your advice and you can jump up and down with your fists in the air if you like. I'm just reporting on this particular mod and couldn't care less about you or yours. Calm down.

I wasnt trying to insult you the first post I made but you still think I am? What ever, and um 3 decades ago, since then alot of things have changed in standards today. Custom jobs are custom. They are made to how you like em, if a custom shop job isnt thats cause you didnt want it that way.You can pay out the ass for a flow master "SYSTEM" but around 100 bucks for the mufflers alone, so yes you get what you paid for think about it. DUH! Now if you get that exhaust cool let us now what its like, but I was just "REPORTING" on another way this could be done. Read my post to the subject and think hard, very hard and then realize what I was trying to get accross. After that I think you should then calm down.

And why the hell would I jump up and down with my hands in the air, its not like Ill gain anything.

Look at those big ass tips....your right aaaaaahahahaha I am jumping up and down....and holding in from peeing my self.
