I have a 2006 Lincoln Ls v8 and i put a 300 amp alternator in it to accommodate my sound system. I did the big 3 and have an xs power agm battery in it. My sound system is only 800 watts but i’m getting just as bad voltage drop with the stock one. I feel like something isn’t right. Does the pcm maybe regulate to alternators output? I shouldnt have voltage drop when my amplifier is pulling max 100 amps and my new alternator has 160 more amps than stock.

The 1st gen alternator is PCM controlled, but the 2nd gen (2003-2006) is not.
Did you upgrade the cabling all the way from the alternator to the battery?
Do you know for a fact that the new alternator can really supply 300A at 14 volts? At what speed?

yes upgraded cable all the way. the alternator was tested and did 168 at 650rpm and 306 amps at 1800rpm
