Well hello everybody, I come to you with yet another Ls shifting occurrence. My 2003 Lincoln Ls v6 when shifting into 2nd will slam and chirp the tires unexpectedly, wondering if anybody has had this situation? I let it sit for about 2 weeks and took her for a spin and the chirping spin went away FOR NOW. I know it has a PCM code, EGR insufficient code, and P0420 and 30 codes currently a long with some others that I will post more accurately when I get her to a shop to read them. There's a slight hiss when I'm in idle and placing it into 1,2,3d4, & d5. This hiss subsides when in between shifting into these gears at idle. Have a slight loss of power getting up to about 35mph but other than that she drives good after. Any tips or help will be greatly appreciated. I am not willing to let up on this beauty just yet! also limp mode occurs unless I allow to warm up to temp then it's not a worry.

Is it perhaps falling into reverse briefly when it chirps the tires?

Mine was doing that, right before the SAI computer fix for the defective transmission circuits. What it was doing is getting confused because the control circuits were screwed and commanding full line pressure on the shift. It sure was fun while it lasted though. It does sound like you have a few more issues in there though, when it happened while at WOT. For finding an intake leak, you can seal the throttle body off with duct tape, with a hose in it that will allow you to blow air into the intake. Then get a fat cigar, puff it up and force smoke into the intake as fast and hard as you can while watching for smoke leaks around the engine. On another Ford product I had, had an EGR issue that turned out to be carbon buildup in the EGR passage. Had to chisel it out because it was hard as a rock. The EGR valve itself was fine. If you decide to clean the EGR, do not twist the pintle as you can break the valve. Only work it in and out.

Thanks for the replys gentleman. I know it isn't shifting into reverse though it does hop a little when put down into Reverse when it's at temp. PCV I will have to get looked at. And TELCO, I think you may have nailed it because I do have a PCM code stored in there as well. I did as much research as I can could find on google about the transmission in my 03 v6 and it seems to have the almost exact issues being explained. Hopefully it isn't too wore out from all this horrible shifting and won't be needing a rebuild. Though I know that's inevitable either way with this baybehh

Mine ran like that for the entire time I owned it with shifting problems, although I didn't realize it at first because the only symptom was harsh shift like it had a shift kit. It ran for 3-4 months shifting like crap trying to work out the problem until one of the members (terrible memory here) recommended the PCM fix. Runs OK now, trans doesn't seem to have been hurt. Max pressure shifts aren't easy on them, but it's better than low pressure shifts. Low pressure shifts will wear it out very fast.
