Lincoln LS V8 vs Mitsubishi 3000GT

What would the outcome of a drag race be between them...(inclosed course) if my LS having the intake and exhaust and the Mitsubishi 3000 GT non turbo stock. This guy thinks he can take me on the track. I'm through with the street racing, it's just not for the LS...I just race to about 90-95 on the quarter and that's about it. You guys think it would be close or would I roast it? This thing weighs 3900 pounds and has 220 horses, but it's a 5 speed...and that's enough to kill an automatic.

It would be kinda close with it being a 5-speed. Might as well try. I think the LSs should take it if it weighs 3900 with 220HP.
 
Gotta think of the gear ratios too, I'm sure his might be better considering its a sports car. Only if our LS's were manual, that would be so fun.
 
I raced a Non-turbo supra once, I had a carlength on him by 40 easily.
 
I thought the Mitsubishi 3000 GT was a mid-16 sec car in the 1/4.

Your 02 V8 is a mid-15 sec car.
 
the 5 speed vs automatic comment strikes me as silly.

Automatics shift faster and more consistant than a standard. All of the big dawg drag racers have automatics.


as for this race. Just do it and find out. I personally dont care for who would win or if did this or if I had this kind of racing. Hit the track and find out for real what would happen.
 
It would be close depending on the drivers ability of the 3000. I pulled up behind one not too long ago in my LS and it has exhaust done but I do not know what version it was but he got on it so I did too(alittle late though) and I managed to stay all over his ass until he whipped into a turning lane.

I beat the hell out of one way back when I had my '88 cavalier z24 v6, 5spd. I believe that one was the 4 banger though as bad as I roasted it.

That's because they're shifting gears to get to over 100mph (or over 300mph) in a few seconds. The story's entirely different in street cars; manuals are normally quicker and faster than the same car equipped with a slushbox.

That's not necessarily or always the case, but, for the most part, it has been true of stock cars. I read an article several years ago about how GM built a '69 (IIRC) Camaro with a slushbox that was tuned such that it was actually quicker than the manual version, but it was notable for being the exception that proved the rule.

Well are we talking the mid-15 sec 3000 to be the 4 banger or what? My z ran low 15's. We got another 2.8L and we had to build it(before car was mine) and I know there was work done, not sure what cause I was not into cars at the time but I know it was not your average z24. If I could find the slip of the 15 I'd post it, I guess I well do some digging around in the papers. Hopefully we still have it, I went trash happy the 2nd time we moved here lol. MMM, gets me wanting that car back, can we 3400 swap:D .

Yes they are, there is a V6 with 220HP front wheel drive and a 300HP AWD twin turbo. I had a 3000GT TT back in 1999 for a bit. It was quick but bulky.
 
The only Automatic that I know of that will literally haul ass is the Lexus LS30 and SC430 transmissions. When they shift they just keep pulling and pulling. The Lincoln LS has probably got to be a very bad one, I dont like it because once you hit 4th gear it wont pull hard anymore. If only the gears were a little different... Can I make this adjustment with SCT.

You also got to consider I'm sitting at about 270 (Estimated) horses with the mods I have. The intake about 5-10 anf the magnaflow has proven 11. I know he might beat me off the line, but I just dont want him so far out to where I cant catch him. This car has 130,000 miles on the car oppose to my 40,000 So I'm sure that'll make quite a difference as well

You should be able to beat him, stock Mitsu 3000GT does 1\4 mile in 15.8s
I think our cars do it in 15.2s correct me if I'm wrong, I'm new with Lincoln Ls.
The Mitsu 3000GT VR4 does it in 13.5s
 
If he pulled up in a VR-4 and told me it was SL...I would cry. I havent seen it yet, but he claims it is stock. He did have a real nice 300ZX for awhile, but then he traded it for a jeep, and now he has a 3000.
 
umm let me put it this way for u.... i would rape a V6 and if u raced a stock VR4 from a roll u would hang with him, the only reason they do mid/high 13's in 1/4mile is because AWD... i have a friend that does 13.7 with his WRX but when i race him from 45mph roll up to 120 he only beats me by a car... 3000GT's are heavy pigs u got nothing to worry about trust me, its gonna be rape ;) i even beat one with my 4cyl probe se couple years back..
