Dont know if this has been posted before, looks like important news.
SHANGHAI – Ford China today announced volume sales of the premium Lincoln Navigator during a launch event in Shanghai at the exclusive Shanghai Gallery of Art. The full-size sport utility vehicle that created the SUV luxury segment brings its American luxury, elite presidential features, extensive power and safety elements, and refined interior and exterior to mainland consumers. The Lincoln Navigator, a built-up (BU) import produced in Wayne, Michigan, was introduced to China during Auto Shanghai 2005 in April and has been competitively priced for the China market at RMB738,000 (USD89,238).
"We are very proud to bring Lincoln’s rich heritage to China. Building upon last month’s auto show in Shanghai, this marks another important step for Ford Motor Company and a milestone for Lincoln in China" said Mei-Wei Cheng, Chairman and CEO of Ford Motor (China) Ltd. "Lincoln Navigator brings its world renowned president-class to 23 Ford dealerships in 19 cities throughout China. The Lincoln brand, offered through Ford Motor Company, definitely has room to grow in this market."
"This vehicle is an essential cornerstone of Ford Motor Company’s strategy of becoming increasingly aggressive in China’s luxury market segment," continued Mei-Wei Cheng. "Over the next few years, we will continue to build on the success of the Lincoln to enrich our premium brands offerings, which are already perfectly represented by Volvo, Land Rover and Jaguar, and to showcase our corporate Enterprise Model in China."
The Lincoln Navigator’s outstanding performance and imposing exterior includes a 300-horsepower, 5.4-liter, 3-valve V8 engine and premium six-speed automatic transmission providing increased refinement and better fuel economy. This ultra-luxury SUV mixes American burl walnut, premium leather trim, satin nickel finishes, white light-emitting-diode lighting, and a six disc CD changer to create a lavish contemporary cabin.
Navigator continues to offer first-in-the-industry power deployable running boards that quietly deploy a full four inches from the rocker panel when a door is opened, then retract automatically when the door is closed. A power liftgate that can raise or lower the door in about 10 seconds is also available.
"We are privileged to have the opportunity to bring Navigator, the ultimate symbol of power and luxury, with its President-Class Quality and Service to this sophisticated market," said Dale Jones, Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Services, Ford Motor (China) Ltd. "We are confident that this President-Class full-size luxury SUV will exceed customers’ expectations and will build a strong Lincoln image in the growing luxury segment. The Lincoln Navigator’s long list of unique and extravagant features including 5.4-liter, 3-valve V8 engineavailable heated-and-cooled front seatspower lift gate, power side step, and power folding rear seats contributes to its outstanding presence."
The Navigator, which is being introduced to China as the auto sector is once again surging forward, will be the focus of the summer’s market. The SUV’s President-Class sales and service are unique in the industry with a professional sales consultant to guide each Navigator customer through the ultimate in power and luxury. The Navigator’s after-sales service is based on exclusive President-Class Quick Gate Service, and the benefits of a President-Class Chamberlain. Since Ford announced it would be launching the Lincoln Navigator in China, the company has received significant interest and numerous pre-orders.
"The essence of the Lincoln brand’s heritage and president-class is captured by the Navigator. By combining performance and exclusive features, Ford delivers the ultimate in power and luxury. The Navigator will bring a new dimension to our product line in China, as is evident by the selection of 3 on the Bund as our launch venue."
The Navigator’s legacy for industry-leading safety includes standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability ControlTM, reducing the risks of untripped vehicle rollovers, Safety CanopyTM system, dual front air bags, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. The well-balanced chassis, with precise steering and powerful brakes, and comprehensive portfolio of safety features provides comforting controllability helping protect the driver and passengers.
