Has anyone heard if the boys at ford plan to try to compete? I'm a lincoln man myself.....but DAMN.......We're getting left behind. What is the fasted production lincoln now....the ls.....with a small 8......it's sad.....compared to 400hp(vette engine) in the cts v and now 440(32v supercharged) comin in the sts v. Any info/insight is welcome.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...or it may be good news. I read in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords that Lincoln's response to that Cadillac is no response at all. They said that they've been building fine luxury automobiles since the 1920s and will continue to. That's as close to verbatim as my little memory will let me get. It dropped my jaw but, I guess they're still selling navigators and aviators. That's the only REAL reason I can see them knuckling under like that. An 04 Cobra engine in a Mark X would be HHHOOOOTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've started taking matters into our own hands...

A supercharged Lincoln LS 32v V8 would be a nice competitor....

Wow!! A Lincoln LS wouldnt need 400hp to beat that heavy Cadillac. A stock 320hp 32v would seriously motivate that thing!!!!! Don't play with my emotions...I've already entertained the thought of buying an LS.

Yep - Thomas Knight (from BoostHead.com) is build a system (prototype) right now - plans to be completed end of Feb. I set as the guinie pig (deposit in his hands) - so I should be installing in March.

I have a 2001 V8 = 252hp stock.
I have added:
- 2.5" exhaust, removed resonators, Flowmaster 40s, magnaflow x-pipe
- Cold Air Intake - w/venturi, cone filter and working hood scoop
- SCT XCalibrator tuned

I'm pushing about 286hp.

The Supercharger is an Eaton M90 Series II - running about 5psi - should get 80+hp.

We've been told by the LS engineers that the trannie should hold 340hp - so that's our weak link.

anyone remember the Mclaren LS?....never came to be......lincoln needs to re think what people want the muscle car era is back and lincoln needs to step up,Big SUV's are cool , but give me a 2 or 4 door sedan with 400 horse!!! :Beer

i hear that.

I think Ford is letting their Jaguar division do the competing with Cadillac on a lot of their models.

correct - Lincoln is positioned as 'near luxury' - below Jag, above Ford.

I'm gunna disagree with that.....An LS WOULD need 400 horses to keep up with the cts v (a similar sized car) which has 400hp itself. Now maybe a suped ls could hang with the sts v....but it would still need to be WELL over 300 to keep up with those 440 ponies.

I'm just a lil disapointed that lincoln has chosen not to compete....but i guess it increases the sleeper factor.

I'm disappointed as well, but you're absolutely right about the "sleeper factor". I like the "glass is half-full" mentality! :Beer

all i know is, one day....im going to be able to put badging on the back of mine that says 460BB :) that will be enough to compete with them sillys, even if its ONLY 1hp per cubic inch. I suggest that EVERYONE follows my lead :)
