Hello all;
I just recently bought a 2002 Executive L Series Towncar to replace my "Old" 2000 Sig series. The External Temperature Sensor on 2002 Exec L is NOT functioning properly. It often reads far warmer than the actual outside temperature. This of course has an effect on the Interrior heating/cooling system that annoys me.

I want to remove the external sensor from my old car and install it on the newer car(Ironic isn't it?). I don't know how to locate these and have been unable to easily find on net.

Most of the parts from my 2000 Sig series can be put onto the 2002 Exec L Series without any problems. I want to do this before the malfunctioning sensor wrecks the working EATAC Head that I just pulled from the old car in order for the newer car to meet Livery Transport Standards (Ironic isn't it?).

HELP ! Where are the sensors located on each 2000 SS and 2002 Exec L?

Well :q:q:q:q dude you dont know where it is it could probably have 1/2 in of asphalt on there

Yeah thanks,that's helpful

 Thanks, that was very helpful. Clears everything up.

Underneath the radiator sight shield, behind the grille area. Has a cone shaped sensing element on the end. Two wire connector. Can't miss it.

A brand new sensor is only like $25 list price. Wholesale even less. I wouldn't even mess with the old one, IMO at least.

Is the 00 being stripped or something?

Thank You

Thank You, I already looked there. I will look again with a bright light.
Basically I am parting it out. So far parts gone are:
All Wheels & Centre Caps.
EATAC Controller Unit.
Power Mirror Switch.
Rubber Trunk Seal.

Many parts are recent. Car had 679,000 km on original engine and transmission when the oil light came on. It appears the timing chain slipped the guide and now there is no compression on the entire right side of motor.
I picked up the '02 Exec L for the same price as a new motor installed:D .

Thanks Again

Weather was beautiful today and I had some time to kill. I accepted an offer for the grill and lights, so I nabbed the sensor while I was at it. Popped it onto the Exec L Series and it works like a charm. Additionally: since I was already there doing something else; I only really added the time to open the other hood and install it without calls or trips for parts :D:D Ironic, isn't it?:D

Mr Wiggl3s.... What can I say? 1/2 inch Asphalt? Have a nice journey.

In/Out?

Sorry; I never paid any attention to that.
Unit is black, connector is too.
Wires were in Black Casing all the way to connector.
The harness ran behind top of bumper cover right under grill.
Literally only took seconds to remove.
Be gentle so you don't break the clips on the connector:D

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and assume that he meant what color is the cars interior and the exterior...I could be wrong though.

Hehe, could be. Black Exterior, Dark Blue Leather Interior.
:D

I never saw an Executive L or any other Exec with the 535 Livery package in any color combo but black exterior and charcoal grey interior from 2000 thru 2002 model year. The "L" series was introduced in 2000, when Lincoln built only 1500 of them. We had only one, and it too was written off after a crash. Out 2001s have repainted silver exterior, charcoal grey interior, while the 07 has black/black.
