anyone else running these cats?

HHMM, its a Ford product, looks a little familiar. Something late 70s early 80s judging by the shifter. Fairmont?

1979 ford mustang
3.3l I 6
3 speed auto
40k original miles
always garaged
i just changed all the fluids, new exhuast, plugs, wires, pcv valve, air filter, etc

my nana`s car, shes the only owner.

she has a cadillac so she lets me use the mustang when i need it.

runs perfect, not one thing wrong with the car. it is a gem,

all lights work, locks, no creaking, no rust, smooth drive, i love it. eventually im going to swap a 5.0 in it with a t5 tranny and 4.10 gears, i already got the fuel cell, fuel pump, msd ignition, 3" radiator, just need to get a clean motor and the rear end,

Not to pick nits, but if it's the original motor, that's a V6, not a straight 6 (I6). The only I6 Ford produced between ~1970 and 1995 was the 300CID (4.9l) stright six in the F-series pickups. That was one hell of a motor.

Good luck on the cat install!

Sorry, but slow 5 is correct, the 200ci straight six was used in the Mustang from 79 to 83. It was a revival of the original one used in Falcons/Comets as well as the 65 to 71 Mustangs...the 64.5 used the 170ci. My mom had a sweet 79 White Mustang Ghia with a straight 6. The engine was called the "Falcon Six" and was made at the Lima plant. There were 4 displacements,a 144, 170, 200 and 250ci. The 250 was also used in the Mustang from 69 to about 72. The 6 that you mentioned was built in Cleveland from the mid-60s to the mid-90s. That one started off as a 240ci and ended as a 4.9l. As you said it was one hell of a motor. I knew somebody that had one in an F150 with well over 200K on the odo with just regular maintenance.

BTW, the straight 6 to v8 is a serious swap, needing new motor mounts and crossmembers, etc...but I digress...

Well, hell's bells, I do not remember that engine. I used to know all of Ford's engines fromt he '60s on, but I guess that memory must've been replaced by something useful. My apologies, Slow...

Wont the Cat. converter just make it louder than the stock? It wont show any power will it?

im not sure if im going to get any performance over stock, the reason i bought the magnaflows, was thewy were very good priced. i needed one knew converter so why not buy two and i hate oem ford parts so aftermarket was the way to go, ill let you guys know how it tunred out. no one ever answered me for that tranny. hmm

looks like you got some condensation in that headlight.
