So i got a p0301 reading so i was changing my coil in bank 1 and took out the plug and there was alot of oil, so i took out #2 to see if there was oil in that one too and there was even more than in #!. What does this mean? Should i take all of them out and clean them. Would me driving on a bad coil cause oil to get in the other cylinders. Does this mean i need to replace the valve cover gasket? Please help asap.

yes you need to replace the valve cover gaskets and probably the coils too...

If you're not changing the valve cover gaskets today then I would take them all out and dry them as good as i could but you really need to change the VCG. No driving on the bad coil doesn't cause oil to get in the others that the bad VCG

any one got a price on a VCG. I think advance auto parts said they could get them. Bout how long is the swap

Ok so i have my car torn apart. what should i do. theres not a place around here that carries a VCG for my car. I can t really leave it, since i need it for work. I could leave it for the night but that wont help me with not having one now. Any input on where i can get a VCG today. thanks.

and I think I paid around $110 or so for them shipped.

I found a dealer open and went and pickd it up. its got a bunch of rings and 2 big rubber things. how ong should i plan on doing this.

I just took out all the plugs and all 4 cylinders were filled with oil. and when i say filled i mean hey were dripping oil real bad. should i replaced the plugs. also the boots had oil on them. can i take the boots off to clean inside them. should i get new coils too. im replacing one today the one that he computer said was bad. thanks for your help.

they way I look at this - as fun as it is taking everything apart ----

replace as much as you can while you have it open - you do not want to do it again in a month. plugs and boots are cheap.

so i got all the bolts out but im stuck on one hose coming out of the valve cover. how the hell do u get this damn thing off. ive tried everything. help me out please

you squeeze them on the outer ring - hard - then pull straight back.

the outer ring has little teeth that clip under a lip on the nipple - squeezing the outer ring makes it bludge and the teeth just miss the lip.

Ok so i officially just screwed my car up. the hose i was talking about i squeezed and pulled up and the hose snapped in half. its a little plastic hose. wtf do i do now. did i just screw myself. please help. if u dont know what hose im talking about. ill post a pic in a sec.

no big deal - just vacuum lines - only air is pulled through them.

just go buy some heater hose / vacuum hose from the auto parts store and use it to hold the two ends together.

I broke my chankcase ventilation tube - can't even buy it from Ford - I'm using hose.

Also i see that theres a bunch of oil when i remove the VC should i clean this out with a rag

yes - well sort of - there should not be any oil where the seal will be

did you read the how to in the tech section? make sure you take off the 3mm or gasket (sealant) off the head an valve cover and replace that. check the tech section to see what I'm talking about. also, would like to hear your start to finish time on this project. I'm thinking of tackling tomorrow.

ill let you know how long it takes. it took so long today cause i had to keep runniong out and finding tools. if it werent for that id guess total time 5 hours or so. i just have to replaced the gasket with some sealant, clean the head. then put it on which i can imagine is going to be a biatch, putting all the rivits back and getting it back in there will be a task. but over all a great project and im saving a :q:q:q:qload of money.

ok so i just got done putting the car together. not as bad as i thougt it would be. then i started it and smoke out the exhaust (as expected), but there was smoke coming from the VC. It stopped, then i took it for a ride (after disconnecting the battery to get the CEL off). The car has a tough time in 1st and 2nd, it shakes still, only at certain speeds, but not as bad as b4. whats going on. why is it still shaking, wil this go away after driving it or should i take it into the dealer and have them look at it. I only replaced 1 coil.

just my opinon but since you had it all apart - swap all plugs and coils.

yeah i didnt have the money to get all new coils, thats not too hard to get to. why would it still be shaking. its not giveing a CEL. will it go away or what do u think.

Anyone?????? Im stressing out about this. i though tonight would be relaxing. like horrah i finished and everything works perfect. but no the cars still shaking. please help

If you didn't replace the coils then it's safe to say that one or more are bad. It's unfortunate that working on the LS can be rather expensive.

is there a tool that i can check the coils. or how do u check to see if they are bad,. also when i took the coils out they had some oil on them i tried to get as much off as possible. could i be the left over oil on the coils
