Low Coolant Error

Every once in a while I get the Low Coolant message. My coolant is full. What could be causing this error message. My temperature gauge stays at half or just below half. Has anyone experienced this problem?

i assumed mine was because of the cold weather, happened to me once this weekend.

It is a possibility that you have a air pocket in your coolant, it is more prevalent in the cold, and only shows up while you are driving. It does not take much for the reservoir to give you the low coolant message.

To take care of it, if it is what the problem is. Pop the cap off of the crossover tube just in front of the alternator. Start the car let it idle until the thermastat opens and cycles the coolant. If the reservoir dips then you have an air pocket, just simply add some coolant in the cap on the crossover tube and you should be golden.

My car was doing that too, after a while ( 2 - 3 weeks ) the temp would go way up and come right back down, in my case though it was the thermostat. What a pain in the ass to change that !!!!!!!

Yes, this has happened to me 2 or 3 times.....Have a '98 CE and it seems as though it happens to me when I am parked on a hill.......goes away quickly and the temp gauge has never shown too hot......I think just another flukey Lincoln thing.....

i had that same prob , i did just that above and it went away, every once and a while i have to fill it becausre i have a small leak but thats like every three months

what is your fluid level? have you ever seen any thing on the ground? mine is only leaking from the water pump housing, so even though its a small leak it needs to be fixed before the water pump goes.
