My front upper ball joints were in really bad shape so replaced those with new Moog arms and now my lowers are moving around..
Scored a new OEM passenger side knuckle a while ago for under $100. It looks like its $500 for the driver side. Not sure if its worth screwing around replacing just the joint? A Mevotech knuckle is about $75 on rockauto. Looks like there is a motorcraft version with a 14mm studd in closeout for under $100 but not sure what the difference is?
Also not sure when removing the front knuckles if the ball joints get frozen in the front lower LCA's? Just had this happen on another car and needed a front end service kit to them out. Ive already had the joy of doing 1 front hub so I know how to remove those.
Which then makes me wonder if I should replace the LCA's? Its under $100 per side from Mevotech. Like $200 from Moog. Im assuming 15yrs and 100k miles later anything is better than what I have. Being I'll need an alignment anyway might as well do it. Unless its a major PITA to remove the lowers? Could have sworn I read that on the driver side it was. The upper was easy. Id like to just replace the bushings but maybe another day..
