On my 1993 mark VIII we kept having problems with the
air suspension. While I was driving after about 5-6 miles
it would lose air in the front and start bouncing like crazy
with every tiny bump i hit it felt like we were coming
off the ground.

Then we had it converted over to a
coil system and it seems like the body is hovering much
lower over the wheels than it was when we had the air
ride.. Like if Im goin up a steep drive way the bottom has
scratched before and scared the SH!T outta me. Also if i have
a full car all adults, i better be careful or it might scratch on drive
ways for stores,restaurants,houses,w.e

is this normal? did they instal the coil system wrong?
to be honest.. i like it how it sits not, but im just making
sure this is supposed to be like this..
and does this mean I have a "lowered" mark 8? lol

Yeah sounds like the lowered kit. I have the normal ride height conversion. I have no problems going over bumps or up driveways or anything. Just be carefull with the lowerd cuz you can cause some damage scraping it ALOT.

Might want to check your shocks. My air ride didn't feel too bad when I had it, up until the day it finally crapped out on me. But when I switched to springs, the rear end was looser than some of the screws in my head! I decided to upgrade the shocks to Monroe SensaTracs from American Air Suspension when I got my tax return. When I pulled out the old ones, I found that they were completely toast! No pressure whatsoever in either of them, and the mounts were pretty far gone as well!

You'd be suprised what the air ride - good or not - can hide from you. I used to bottom out pretty bad right after the lowered conversion, but since I got the old shocks tossed out and new ones in, I hardly have a problem. Still gotta be careful of course, but it's not nearly as sensitive as it used to be!

So, whenever I see someone considering a swap to springs after their air ride dies, I tell them they'd better change the rear shocks while they're at it!

You may bottom out if you bounce on old shock absorbers, but they dont change the height and think thats his problem.

Eh, it sounds like it's fine the way it is but just shouldn't be bottoming out that way. Throw some good shocks in, and things should be fine. If not, *then* you might want to consider looking for a "stock height" coil conversion kit.

There's a big price difference between just shocks and a strut/spring kit, so I'd go for the shocks first. Make sure you get the full kit from American Air Suspension that comes with the right mounts and everything. You'll need those.
