LS alarm question

What exactly does the alarm do and protect. when will it go off and for how long. are there any window sensors. also if i wanted to tap into the alarm light where would i do that, so when i lock the car it flashes. by it i mean i have some aftermarket blinking viper things that i would like to put in until i get a actual alarm

The factory alarm is basically a voltage sensor that will honk the horn if any of the entry points(doors,trunk) are opened. As far as how long, i'd guess 30-60 max., then resets itself. So it wont do anything for a window smash and grab.

Well I had my car locked while I was trying to close my hood once and the alarm went off.

The hood is monitored by the factory perimeter alarm.
