So Friday morning i dropped of the LS at the dealership. It had a hard times starting up when engine is cold(But once it starts...watch out :steering ) Also had them do the oil change while it's there.

Anyway, The original estimate was $157(1 hour) to check the car. They said it might even be less. They would then call me, tell me the problem and price to get her fixed. OK...
Friday afternoon i get a call that they are going to have to open up the engine further to check for leaky injectors or something like that and that I was looking at about 2-3 additional hours, and of course, if injectors were bad I'm looking at $108 a piece. So it was going to have to stay there til MOnday.
I was also ok with this.

The part that's worrying me now is it's 12:30 Monday....
This is the first time she hits the shop without warranty...they wouldnt do work, or tack on additional hours without contacting me first, would they?

I called this Morning around 9 and the girl that had helped me said they were still working on it. I stared worring shortly after but dont want to bug....

What's their policy on charging?.....

go to the dealer inperson and see for yourself ..Talk to either dealer owner or the shop manager and get paperwork on all your questions

They'd BETTER call you, if it's going to cost one dime more than what you've approved. Once upon a time, I got gigged like that. The service manager told me, "Well, you wanted it FIXED, didn't you???" I had them remove the parts and got a refund.

Fortunately, I've got a great garage a couple blocks from my house that I use for anything outside of warranty work. They aren't sharks, like most dealership service departments seem to be, and they're much more reasonable as well. It would be wise to find someone like them in your neck of the woods, since your warranty period is over.

Dam here in Florida its illeagal to do any work that will cost more then the owner has agreed to the shop will get slaped with some big fines.

I'm sure that's the case here too....i was a little worried since it's my first time paying for this kind of work.
Anyway, I left my "service consultant" a message and she called me back around 2 pm. She says that my mechanic went home sick..... So my car will just sit there until tomorrow(assuming he shows up).
Hmmm...i guess it's possible.
Maybe I'm giving this too much thought, but I'm thinking maybe they spend all those extra hours opening her up and found no problem there. If that's the case....what happens?
What do I pay for...or not pay for if they fail to find the problem?
Or if it ends up being something that shouldnt have taken so long?

Just wondering if you guys have dealt with some sort of similar situation....

I will be showing up there tomorrow morning regardless of the status of my car, so I'd appreciate any input....

I wouldn't worry too much. There isn't much ripping apart done with cars any more to diagnose a problem. Most of the info needed is in the computer. Almost sounds like a coil pack issue (I think they use coil packs, in the LS, am I rt?).

If your car is running and you're not satisfied with their service, take the car home. Try again somewhere else.
That is kind of weird for the dealership to only have one mechanic that can work on your car.
Lincoln dealerships here in Florida charge $90 to check out a car, why $157?
If you don't plan on picking up your car, you should wait for them to call - you may be spending the day there waiting for them.
