I have a 2000 V8 LS Autostick. I live in Michigan, so you know we get alot of snow. Couple weeks ago my car got stuck. As press on the gas a bit hard the tires spinned in place. I tried moving back and forth. As I was reving the engine it cuts of on me. I noticed this happens when I am pushing the gas petal hard trying to get out of the snow. I asked the dealer they said it was part of the LS's safety feature that don't allow you to burn out the engine. Is this normal or I'm just getting the run around?

Hahaha!! Very funny. I wish I could move somewhere that is nice all year round. I was thinking about moving to Arizona but my wife, likes the season changes.

they change here... just not so harshly. Just come home one hurry through the house packing a few thinsg and tell hurry we gotta get outta here. Jump in the trustly LS and point the nose south till you see white sand hit the brakes, jump out and proclaim Florida as your new home.

But if your home is like mine beg, beg like there is no tomorrow that she grant you one wish. Sometimes if I am presistent enough she gives in. I think it has worked twice... we have two kids to prove it. :)

It's not the rev limiter - that is only in place for Park / Neutral.

turn off your traction control. It is designed to kill the engine's power to the rear wheels if it detects spin - it will also apply your rear brakes....

This is why the LS cannot zip off the line - if you spin in the slightest - your engine is cut.

ahh true... again... if you want that to stop as well join us in sunny Florida :)

about the only times I had that kick in was going over a train track while turning. Kind of erked me....

And I think it did save my butt a few weeks ago when my right rear tire blew out and my car wig wagged on the interstate

I hate it when I forget to turn it off when I racing - the car blasts off - then 30 feet later - goes limp....

That time on the train tracks scared the dickens out of me. SO I pretty much turn it off any time I get in the car. It was early in the morning when my tire blew thankfully i forgot to diable it.

I might of ended up taking a dirt nap or shopping for a new car. Lots of old people down here right now with slow reaction time so I would have certainly been banged into a few times.

Yep, but it also does it in reverse even with the traction control off. I found this out before I had the snow tires on... 3k in reverse is the limit.

interesting. I guess they dont want us backing off from road blocks at a high rate of speed.

Good thing they dont autocross in reverse.

Yeah to be honest I have no idea how fast 3k in reverse is. I went about 35 or 40 in my old merq once before cutting the wheel and wiping the front around for a really quick turn around. One of my township guys bet me I couldn't do it... Just make sure you have at least 35 pounds in the tires. Anything much less than that and you could take a tire off the rim. Good stuff!

You think that was scary........ ABS is what makes me cringe at times.

Shortly after I got my WS6 T/A (my first car w/ ABS), I was running late for a golf match. I was on a 2-lane road behind 4-5 cars, I decided to blow by them and get on my way. I wound out 3rd gear (~90MPH) as I entered a bridge that empties immediatly into a hard right curve (slighly banked). My plan was to upshift to 4th and brake hard to scrub speed before entering the turn. However, just as I stabbed the brakes, I crossed the bump where the bridge meets the road, which caused the tires to lose contact just enough to activate the ABS. Not being used to ABS, that momentary, instant sensation of having no brakes caused me to instinctively start pumping the brakes. At that same instant, a car coming the other way precluded my secondary plan of "using both lanes" to complete the turn, which by that time I was entering WAY too fast after not scrubbing off any speed. Having my hands full, I dove low into the turn to avoid the on-coming car as I applied as much brakes as I dare. Since I only made it to 4th gear (instead of 5th or 6th like I should have been at that speed), a slight amount of throttle-lift oversteer caused the rear to start stepping out. Somehow I managed to control the ensuing back-n-forth fish-tail and keep it on the road.
