The oil pan on my 2000 LS is rusting out. Is this an easy job to do? Does the engine need lifted to replace it? Does anyone have advice how to replace it?

Sand it down, degrease it, and paint it. Those things are pretty thick, so the chance of you sanding through it is slim to none. Hit it good with some Rustoleum rust converting primer after it's been sanded down, then paint it whatever color you like after that dries.

Do you have a V8 or V6? V8 pan is easy to drop. V6 you will have to remove a bunch of crap and lift the engine or pay $$$$

if you want to stop it from ever rusting again, check out POR-15 metal treatment
