I am wanting to replace the lug nuts on my 2000 lincoln since the stock ones are all stripped out. My question is this, what is the problem with using the conical style lug nuts from a regular auto parts store? They are much cheaper than the stock ones or Sebring ones. Does anyone use these type of lug nuts. Thanks for your replies.

I don't know about the lug nuts you are referring to... but the Sebring ones match the thread, depth, and angle perfectly... and they're chrome! Only way to check the cheaper one's is to buy one or two and see how they fit... but you don't want to horse them on because you could ball up the threads on the studs.

I have a full set of lug nuts in great shape (not rounded or stripted) for $20+ shiping.

I tried the auto parts lug nuts. One place told me they didnt carry any for the LS. I went to another and they gave me some...didnt fit...the tire was lose after i tighened them. I ended up getting the Sebring lug nuts...
They fit great and look great.
I would spend the extra money.
