Yesterday while on my way back home from Dubuque, I stopped at a convenient store for some refreshments.

While heading up to the check out, a couple which looked in their 60's came in and asked for a good AAA service station. The Girl at the check out began to look up someone to call.

While I was checking the guy tells me, I think a belt came off... I then said if it's only a belt I'll take a look at it and see if we can save you a bunch of money.

So, Danny (someone those who come to the July meet will all get to know) and I walk over to this nice looking 1995 Cadillac Deville. The owner pops the hood and there it was his serpentine belt was off.

So I grabbed my tool box from the back of the car and we put the belt back on.

The guy starts up the car and the idler pulley seizes up and brakes off.

The guy looked sick... so I told him hey don't worry this is easy we'll have you running in no time.

So I drove the guy to a local auto parts store and we picked up a new pulley and belt ($45).

Went back and put it on. Ran great!!!

The couple offered some cash for our work so I gave him an LvC card that I had made up and told him just said pay it forward...

I had more fun hearing the stories this guy was telling than he got from us helping him out.

Gas for Trip to Dubuque $20
POP at Gas Station $1.00
Helping out a fellow member of the human race Priceless....

The biggest bummer is this guy tells me that he was interviewed on ESPN for is BBQ Ribs that he makes.

If he would have been from Dubuque and not Waterloo, IA we'd be eating Ribs on Friday Night at the Meet....

That's awesome!!  I always go out of my way to help a person when I can. I saved a guy's life one time who was bleeding to death on the side of Interstate 35 in Oklahoma city when I was 18 years old. I still feel proud of that.:)

Very excellent story. Good work Rich. The more we help one another the better.

Rich ...I knew there was something I liked about you. Thats a reminder for all of us to help when we can and slow down .... Thanks:D
