Need serious help here peoples. In February, y'all suggested my problem was the Throttle Body, which the dealership suggested and replaced $450. Last week they diagnosed the problem as a bad plug and coil for cylinder #6 $270. The bad coil was supposedly sending a radio frequency to the PCM which was picking it up as a bad Throttle Body. The problem has not gone away. It has happened under al types of acceleration from light, moderate to heavy; sometimes when I go to accelerate, the engine will just cut out, check engine light (wrench) on my '03 LS V6 will come on. I have to pull over, put it in park, shut off, then restart the engine. I'm going back to the dealership today...... IT'S GOING TO BE UGLY!!!
Any suggestions as to what my problem is? PLEASE HELP!

What's up josuave I live in milton just 30 mins outside of Toronto I did the coil on plug replacement for my 00 ls v6 .it's a very expensive dealer job if your handy an need help I could help you fix it ? let me know with the money you save we can go drink a few beers

I had the same problem in my 2000 LS8. I originally thought its was bad gas. I had just filled the tank. All of a sudden, the car starts chugging under acceleration. Check engine light comes on, goes out. Buzzing through the subs in the trunk. I drove out the rest of the gas. The car continued to acted up. Took it to the dealer. 4 bad coils. All covered under the warranty.

Yeah, if you do it yourself, you'll see why it's so expensive - it takes a lot of time, patience and care. Well, I take that back, depending on which coil it is. If it's on the exposed side, I would definitely do it myself. If it's on the other side, that's another story. Warrenty coverd my first replacement then I had to do it myself when I did the tune-up later. You have to weigh dealership costs versus the costs of your time. They told me at the dealership that coils are the most frequent repairs they do on the LS. Personally, I prefer doing things myself - it's a great way to really learn your car plus you can do a whole lot of other preventative maintenance while you're down there. In your case, when the next thing happens you'll have a better idea of what it most likely is. Plus, I hate chasing the mechanics at the dealership after paying hundreds of dollars asking them to put everything back the same way it came. This mechanic actually caught an attitude with me because I wanted the fastner in the middle of engine cover that holds it in place put back? He lost it and took one off another customer's LS. Basically, if you pay, make sure they do everything right and if possible, inspect their work carefully.
