I like the idea of making criminals have to work off the cost of their stay.
You'll inevitably hear complaints from the certain groups of professional victims and enablers, but they should be ignored.
However, the only problem I can think of is that you do run into the problem of inmate contractors being able to grossly underbid private contractors. But I support the principle of it.
